High-mileage electric car usage is working out almost twice as expensive as petrol

Perhaps autumn half-term week was not the best time for driving long distances in an EV on largely unplanned routes, but then family life is like that, full of the unexpected, joyful and sometimes sad.

The first thing I learnt during 11,000 miles in the Mach-E was that it isn’t a “proper” Mustang. Secondly, if you regularly cover high mileage in an EV, you need to travel when everyone else isn’t to avoid queuing at chargers.
 
Fortunately, now that my three-month eschewal of fossil fuels is over, I’m able to use my Honda Civic Type R for long personal journeys, although the Ford is still pressed into service when work calls.

Recently, a family illness was a force majeure and the Civic was being serviced so the Ford was the only transport. Unfortunately, no amount of planning could avoid bank-holiday travel and the armada of electric vehicles needing to charge.

You  mean that old "Conservation of Energy" physics equation in real time and life isn't working out like they thought?

The sheer concept of thinking it is more efficient to create energy at a power plant, and have that same energy not, lose value in transmission and storage is a concept that  the enviro-whackos have either chosen to ignore, or just to stupid to understand.

Exactly.  While combustion driven cars are paying 50 cents to $1 per gallon in taxes per gallon of gas, what are the EVs paying to drive on the same roads?  Nothing.  And the hybrids almost next to nothing.

Impose a tax on all household that have EVs and see how long they last on the market.

...and a weight fee. Some weigh almost as much as my F150 and I have to pay a fee every year.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

At least North Dakota imposes a surcharge on the registration (annually) for EVs.IIRC, it is $120. At $0.23/gallon of state gasoline tax, that's roughly the equivalent of 521 gallons of fuel tax tacked on the registration fee, about what one would pay to fill an ICE vehicle traveling between 5,200 and 13,000 miles per year (mileage depending entirely on the ICE vehicle).
IOW, that's about fair, and it's unlikely that those electrics are exceeding 20K miles per year.

plus they are heavier than ICE vehicles so do more damage to roads and infrastructure. Of course if the Gaia worshippers are forced to put a mileage tax on EV’s they will actually be happy because it will put them a step closer to putting a mileage tax on everyone, naturally there would be no elimination of the road tax tied to gasoline and diesel sales.

My car insurance just went up over 20%, although no accidents in decades.  I am quite positive that the reason is the insurers are having to deal with the increased exposure to liabilities on the road and in car lots/garages due to the presence of EVs.

If a minor fender bender is made by my ICE vehicle with an EV or vice versa, there is a much greater repair cost, so the insurer needs to increase my rate to get the cost reconciled.
