Whoa. But maybe a chance for Paxton, who is a much more experienced atty.
If he's not interested, I'm quite okay with Harmeet Dhillon.

This could well be the most important position of them all. It has to be a bulldog who knows DC and the law inside and out if they're going to have any chance at succeeding.

I'm not! Given how she has handled election security so far this election. We SHOULD have a minimum of 56 Senate seats instead of 53.

It's being reported that Matt Gaetz had the support of every Republican Senator except four

Senator Mitch McConnell (Kentucky)
Senator Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)
Senator John Curtis (Utah)
Senator Susan Collins (Maine)
Considering how he stabbed his own party in the back with the McCarthy debacle, I'm surprised he had that much goodwill in the Senate given that 90% of the House GOP was still loyal to McCarthy.

But that's partisan politics in DC for you. As long as there's an R by the name, you're guaranteed 90% support from the other Rs.

Gaetz has become more and more of a worm with every passing year. I'm not sad to see him out of Washington.

Kavanaughing will continue.
Except the questions about Gaetz's personal issues began many, many years ago. This isn't like what you're seeing with Hegseth when it looked like an obvious hit job. Gaetz has skeltons in his closet.

I mean, look at the guy's face. He even looks like a predator.

It's going to be tough to come up with another candidate who would instill fear in the Rats as much as Gaetz did.

I could give a good crap about instilling fear.  I WANT DAMN RESULTS, AND MATT GAETZ WAS A POOR CHOICE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT.

He has a law degree, big whoop!!!  He has no court experience, for he went straight into Congress after school.  And worse, he has zero management experience.  ZERO MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.  We are talking about a branch of government with 110,000 folks working for it.  I would rather Trump select someone highly skilled to cut that monster in half.  Literally start with a goal of cutting it down to size.  Now, perhaps that would get the stinking Democommie attention.

And no one need lose their job.  Start with a hiring freeze DAY ONE, including current posted vacant positions they are looking to fill.  Everything is frozen until DOGE goes through a department and makes a full assessment of resources needed.  Knowing government as well as I do, I know they are overstaffed by 50%, MINIMUM!!!

I want Ken Paxton.  He has proven himself time and again to take on the hard issues that should not exist.  Sen Cruz would work too, but I do not want to deplete anyone from the Senate or House for executive branch positions.  340 million people out there, Trump needs to halt his raiding of the legislative branches of government and find his resources elsewhere.

Didn't he already resign from Congress?

I wonder if that resignation will extend to the new Congress. He won that election.

He has options.  He might opt for the Senate seat.  Or he can return to the House, particularly if the allegations against him are false, which I suspect they are.  But if I were him, I would pursue the Senate seat.  I had to check to see if he was old enough, and was surprised to see he is 42.  Time does fly by!

The key qualifications needed in a AG for Trump's second term are (1) those any AG should have -- experience as a trial lawyer, administrative experience and an absolutely loyalty to the Constitution of the United States, (2) an absolute hatred for meddling by the intelligence services in domestic politics, and (3) a horror of anything that even hints at a two-tiered justice system (whether the two tiers are based on political party or based on social class).

Note, I did not include loyalty to Donald Trump among them, (2) and (3) will get what he wants in fixing DOJ done better than personal loyalty will.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

Scott floats Gaetz as candidate for Rubio’s Senate seat after AG withdrawal
By
Ross O'Keefe

.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) thinks former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who just dropped out of consideration for President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney general spot, could be a good candidate to replace Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

Rubio is set to vacate his Senate seat after Trump nominated him to be his secretary of state.

Scott said he was disappointed Gaetz was dropping out but that “Matt would be a great person” to take Florida’s soon-to-be-open Senate seat, according to Politico. Scott suggested his first preference for the seat would be Republican National Committee Co-Chairwoman Lara Trump.

That won’t happen either.  DeSantis has not been spared from Gaetz’ a-holery, and the Senate would start investigating right where the House left off.  Also, Rick Scott is a moron and needs to retire soon.

Matt Gaetz Withdrawal: Why It Happened, and What Comes Next
By Bonchie | 1:45 PM on November 21, 2024

When Matt Gaetz was announced as Donald Trump's nominee for Attorney General, I was immediately skeptical. Not because I had anything personally against him, but because I just couldn't make the math work out as far as getting confirmed. Sure enough, Gaetz has withdrawn his bid, saying that he did not want to become a distraction for an incoming Trump administration that needs to hit the ground running.

To those worried about what comes next, my message is simple: Relax.

This very well could be for the best, and I'm going to explain why. First, though, let's discuss why the whole "recess appointment" thing so many people were talking about didn't happen (and why it's almost certainly not going to happen for any other major nominee either).

There was a fundamental misunderstanding of how recess appointments work, even in the press. Neither House Speaker Mike Johnson nor soon-to-be Senate Majority Leader John Thune had the power to call a recess and force through a nomination. While they both indicated they would allow that to happen, that was never the question because it wasn't up to them.

Ken Paxton should become U.S. Attorney General.

He proved his mettle over the last several years in Texas.

Mr. Trump, call on him...!

Well are divides over Gaetz sorted on who supported him in his holding firm in having the house speaker overturned. We had quite a rowl over that here at TBR... (I was on Gaetz's side)... but then again, I would support Jeff Sessions again for AG (which might cement my nomination for the most hated member of TBR)...

Gotta say I am disappointed but would not mind seeing Paxton.

Per Faux News it's Pam Bondi and I'm good with that!

I heard in his speech to leave office, Gaetz said he would not take the office in the next congress.

Considering how he stabbed his own party in the back with the McCarthy debacle

It was his party that was stabbing us in the back.  Gaetz stood up for us.

I'm surprised he had that much goodwill in the Senate given that 90% of the House GOP was still loyal to McCarthy.

The greatest threats that Senators face are House members.  There is zero love between the two bodies.

Worm?  Seriously?  I'll take an entire House filled with Matt Gaetzes any day over the pansy-ass Democrat-lite traitors we have now.  Two years the GOP has been in charge of the House, and WE ARE STILL LIVING UNDER NANCY PELOSI'S 2022 BUDGET!  To hell with that.

If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

That’s because a wafer thin majority forced Republicans to negotiate in order to get a continuing resolution passed, no matter who held the gavel.  Matt Gaetz led a mutiny with no backup plan, resulting in nothing but dysfunction and embarrassment.  There is no more room for stunts this session with a 3 or 4 seat majority.  Maybe if the RNC were led by someone besides a Trump, resources could have been allocated to critical House races following an aggressive recruitment effort, and we would not find ourselves in this position.

Matt Gaetz has withdrawn his nomination for U.S. Attorney General, a move announced Thursday following an onslaught of attacks from the Deep State and media allies. Despite receiving strong support from Trump and many in his base, Gaetz cited the need to avoid “a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle” as a key reason for stepping back.

The good news is the traitors reveal themselves as targets for MAGA. We know who to primary and who to keep.

Big thanks to all the traitors for telling us who you are.
