Outgoing Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) — a member of the far-left “Squad” — is demanding that the next Star Wars movie features a black Jedi lead character, saying he will refuse to watch and will even denounce the movie franchise if his demand isn’t met.

The threat to the Walt Disney Company comes as the studio recently announced a new Star Wars movie trilogy in the making from X-Men veteran Simon Kinberg.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who is set to leave Congress in January after losing his primary, made his demand known in an X post on Tuesday.

“If the lead Jedi is not a Black [sic] man I ain’t messing with yall. Yall not about to make 12 Star Wars and have all white leads for all 12. Y’all wilding with that and I hate to say that I would not watch and will spend the rest of my days denouncing this franchise that I have loved,” he wrote.

I understand Rust is back at filming, so perhaps he can get a gig on Alec Baldwin's shooting set instead.

They may need another cinematographer

Yeah, gee whiz...there are hardly any black actors in movies today or commercials.
It's just an outrage. Only every other movie seems to be about blacks, and most commercials star black actors.
And while watching Wheel Of Fortune  the wife and I have noticed the numbers of times there are two black contestants on the show despite being only 13% of the population. Twice this week so far.
It's just a damn shame that every actor in every movie isn't black.  :silly:
And as far as SW goes....I haven't watched one since the first one came out almost fifty years ago. They can blast the whole franchise to the outer fringes of the universe as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, Mace was, and remains, a very popular character among Star Wars fans, who hate how Lucas killed him off.  Bowman is just a clueless poser who probably has never even watched the original films.

Bowman lost his primary anyway back in June, so he's completely irrelevant.
