USC estimates California fuel could rise by up to 90 cents per gallon next year
Story by Kenneth Schrupp • 17h

(The Center Square) - California gas prices could rise up to $1.15 per gallon next year thanks to the state’s new carbon credit system, taxes, refinery regulations, and refinery shutdown. This would require the typical Californian to make up to $1,000 per year more in pre-tax income to “break even,” according to an analysis from a professor at the USC Marshall School of Business.

“The increase contributes to inflation, the high cost of living in California, and has a disproportionate and adverse impact on lower income Californians," wrote Professor Michael A. Mische. “To compensate for the increases, the average Californian driving an internal combustion vehicle will have to earn an additional $600.00 to $1,000.00 a year in pre-tax income in order to “breakeven” with 2024 prices, depending on the grade of gas they purchase.”

Days after the November election, the California Air Resources Board — a regulatory commission almost entirely appointed by the governor — passed new updates to the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, requiring producers of “dirty” transportation fuel to purchase more credits from producers of “clean” transportation fuel. The new LCFS will provide an estimated $105 billion in EV charging credits and $8 billion of hydrogen credits largely paid for by fees on gasoline and diesel, which the state estimated would be passed on to drivers and consumers.

This is bound to increase business ventures moving into California.  People stealing things and selling them to get money to buy gas should go down.  It will help pay off the debts of the state and cities.  LA will become a tourist's paradise with all the illegals being protected and the cost of everything skyrocketing.

I expect we'll see more fuel thieving then.
Thanks Grewsome and your unelected cronies at CARB.  :chairbang:

Californians will need to park their ICE vehicles in bank vaults at night to prevent the pillaging of their gas tanks.

These days, they just get under the vehicle, and poke a hole in the gas tank to drain the gasoline.

California resident, filmmaker Justine Bateman, has some thoughts:

@JustineBateman
When you hear of the idea of Gavin Newsom running for President, remember this post. He has been the worst governor of California has ever had. We pay some of the highest taxes in the US, already have the highest gas prices, and then he decides to do this gas price hike. It’s obscene. And for our money we get rampant crime and a total disregard for California residents. He just does not care about any of us. And this is the exact same thing he will do to the entire United States of America.

They should be thrilled knowing that they will be getting what they voted for.

Californians Need $1,000 More To Pay 2025 Gas Prices
Story by Alia Shoaib • 3h

Californians will need to make up to $1,000 a year more to afford projected gas prices for 2025, a professor from the University of Southern California has estimated.

A study by Michael A. Mische of the university's Marshall School of Business noted that fuel prices in the state are expected to increase by as much as 62 percent higher than the national average.

The increase is due to come after the California Air Resources Board passed updates to the state's Low Carbon Fuel Standard which includes requiring gas stations to carry a more expensive, but cleaner, fuel blend.

Estimates vary for the exact amount that fuel prices will increase. The California Air Resources Board estimates that the change will raise retail prices of gasoline by $0.47 a gallon.

However, Mische cites a separate study by the University of Pennsylvania Kleinman Center for Energy Policy that estimates that retail prices could increase by $0.65 a gallon next year, $0.85 a gallon in 2030 and $1.50 a gallon in 2035.

It is not difficult to envision a time in the near future when most Americans will be paying $2.25 a gallon for gas, while Californians will pay upwards of $6.00 a gallon.

Which will make it financially possible for private people to travel out of state to purchase gasoline to bring back in to California to sell on the black market.

Doubtful...a few years back we almost touched $7 a gallon and even the Assembly thumbed their noses at us and told us to suck it up.

I didn't notice anyone really modifying their driving habits either. Pickups and SUVs along with sedans still flying down the freeways a good 10-15 mph over the traffic flow.

CARB is not an elected body, so no one voted for bullshit, just like the AQMD or the State Water Resources Board. They are appointed and almost always have absolutely no expertise in what they are making decisions on. The rest of us in the state are run roughshod over by the the socialists in  large cities.

State regulators pass controversial new measure that could impact drivers at the pump: 'The world is watching'

The California Air Resources Board voted 12 to two last month to approve changes to the state's Low Carbon Fuel Standard, as reported by Reuters. Established in 2011, the law aims to slash greenhouse gas pollution from the transportation sector by toughening state climate policy for fuel producers.

The Low Carbon Fuel Standard is designed to discourage fuel makers from generating more carbon emissions than a baseline set by the board.

Members of the board insisted the changes were essential following the victory of President-elect Donald Trump, who in the past has vowed to rescind California's ability to set its own vehicle emission rules.

If California wishes to punish its citizens, let them as they have every right to do so.

Soon there won't be any citizens left to punish as the entire state will be composed of illegals picking fruit in the fields.

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.
