Border state governor vows to defy Trump's ‘misguided’ mass deportation push
President-elect Donald Trump made mass deportations a key part of his 2024 campaign

Arizona's Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs says the border state, which voted for President-elect Donald Trump in the presidential election this month, will not be aiding the incoming administration with its "misguided" plan to launch a mass deportation operation.

Hobbs was asked by ABC News about whether the Trump administration will bring a reset on the border, and she responded by focusing on current partnerships with the federal government to secure the border.

"I am very hopeful that that partnership can continue, and that the incoming administration will listen to, not only my administration, but the experts here on the ground, the people that are doing the work about what is most needed, and what we can continue to do that will be most helpful in securing our border," she said.

I remember when some states defied the "double Nickle: speed limits.  The Feds siad fine. No Gove money will go to your state for roads.

I wonder if a similar stick can be used on them for this defiance?

Certainly, provided that Congress passes a law that does so.

Grist for the mill.

The mass repatriations (re-branding) are corrections to Biden's "misguided" Open Border policies.

We're not just deporting illegal immigrants, we are re-uniting them with their countries of origin - just a really big family reunion.

If the party had nominated Karrin Robson instead of ... remind me who Trump endorsed? ... this would not be an issue.

I didn't care for her.  Rubbed me the wrong (McCainiac) way.  She's part 0f the old guard we need to be rid of here.

How so? Her conservative resume is deep.  Kari Lake was a lifelong dem, went door to door for Obama, gave money to dems.  But Trump endorses her, and wham, her opponent is ‘stablishment, not to be trusted.

Robson was my pick for the primary had I been here.

Lake settled down after the primary and ran a good campaign.  It's just that she was already tied to election denial and would not keep her LOUD MOUTH SHUT.

Had Robson won, she would have beated Hobbs.  However, as @Cyber Liberty says, it would been seen as a victory for the McStains (Doug Ducey's 3rd term).

I certainly would have prefered Hobbs not be there.

But with our pick ups in the house and senate, Hobbs is going to get NOTHING accomplished.

And the conservative arm of the party is just getting started.

We are working on getting LD12 turned around.  There is a real firecracker who lives there who also sits on the MCRC members at large.

Life is only going to get better.

Which we need as we have some tough issues to address as a state.

Hobbs is a total nitwit.  Republicans can defeat her even in a Trump midterm, but they will have to be careful with their selection.  If Hobbs is behind by several points she will feel compelled to debate.

It WON'T be KARI LAKE.

I am hoping we start to see the candidates emerge soon.
