Introduction: Investigating Unanswered Questions

The COVID-19 vaccination program is one of the largest global public health initiatives in history. With over 13 billion doses administered worldwide, serious adverse events must be systematically studied to ensure safety. A newly published systematic review, A Systematic Review of Autopsy Findings in Deaths After COVID-19 Vaccination, by Hulscher et al., examines the role of vaccines in post-mortem cases.

This study reviews 325 autopsy cases, concluding that 73.9% of the deaths were causally linked to COVID-19 vaccination. The leading causes of death included sudden cardiac events, thromboembolic complications, myocarditis, and immune-mediated conditions such as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT). These findings underscore the importance of continuous monitoring and investigation.

Key Findings and Their Context

Of the 325 cases reviewed, causality was assessed using clearly described, standardized criteria, revealing:

•   Sudden cardiac death accounted for 35% of vaccine-related cases.

•   Thromboembolic events (pulmonary embolism and VITT) represented significant contributors at 12.5% and 7.9%, respectively.

•   Myocardial infarction (12%), myocarditis (7.1%), and multisystem inflammatory syndrome (4.6%) were also implicated.

These findings raise sound concerns. Causality assessments in autopsy studies rely on detailed pathological examinations and clinical correlation. These methods are robust in spite of a few hypothetical limitations, such as increased risk due to pre-existing conditions, which may be understudied due to incomplete medical histories.

Methods: We searched PubMed and ScienceDirect for all published autopsy and organ-restricted autopsy reports relating to COVID-19 vaccination up until May 18th, 2023. All autopsy and organ-restricted autopsy studies that included COVID-19 vaccination as an antecedent exposure were included. Because the state of knowledge has advanced since the time of the original publications, three physicians independently reviewed each case and adjudicated whether or not COVID-19 vaccination was the direct cause or contributed significantly to death.

Covid-19/SARS2 is an inflamatory disease, not a respiratory disease.  It is most widely transmitted respirationally.  It can bind to any tissue or organ with ACE-2 receptors.

I'd be interested to see data and result from more recent studies that tracked illness and death among vaccinated and un-vaccinated control groups.

There's always the risk someone may have a bad reaction to the shot, but this must be tracked, documented, studied, evaluated, compared, and peer-reviewed against the risks.

Which is greater - the risk of dying from the shot, or an unvaccinated person dying from Covid-19/SARS2?

Does the shot provide benefits or values that outweigh its risk?

How many people die from allergic reactions to bee stings or peanut butter every year? 

Immunology is not yet a science of absolutes, but a science of contrasts.

I'm a 76 year old white male with hypertension who has never had so much as a Covid test much less a shot and I fully intend to keep it that way. I personally know two people who were killed by Covid vaccines.

I'm going to die of something eventually but it won't be from taking a clot shot!

With over 13 billion doses administered worldwide, ...

1. With most vaccines having be two-dose, that would bring the number of recipients into the 7 billion range. And since a significant minority of initial recipients received boosters, some more than once, I'd guess the number of individuals to have been in the 4 billions range. I'm just talking numbers, not making numbers-based claims.

2. While 4 vaccines have been used in the US - the J&J and Novavax vaccines being less well known and much less administered - several other vaccines were used in other countries. The AstraZeneca vaccine was not used in the US (other than clinical trials), but was used pretty widely outside of the US. China developed at least two vaccines; while we may not have numbers from China, the Chinese vaccines were used in South America and possibly elsewhere. Russia had their Sputnik V vaccine, though I'm not sure whether it was heavily used in Russia or was a national pride Potemkin vaccine.

3. Both mRNA-technology and viral-vector-technology vaccines have had reported myocarditis side effects. While I have not seen reports of this for the Novavax vaccine, which uses protein sub-unit technology, the FDA info sheet mentions that as a possible side-effect, probably based on a few such cases. Since the three quite different vaccine technologies have myocarditis as a reported side effect, that means that the myocarditis is likely due either to the non-active ingredients in the vaccines - all will have similar non-active ingredients as preservatives and other functions - or is an effect for the few sufferers thereof of their immune system being stimulated.

They must have been too picky in their selection of autopsies to be included in their study.

All autopsy and organ-restricted autopsy studies that included COVID-19 vaccination as an antecedent exposure were included.

Realistically, were a million cases available - which there are not - the study would still have to limit its sample to a size it has the resources to study. This is dictated by the study's staff size, equipment, and funding, i.e. practical logistics.

In 1976 the Swine Flu (H1N1) vaccine program was halted with 43,000,000 (one source says 45,000,000) administered because of 32 deaths from the vaccine.

The reason:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states, "Those who received the 1976 swine flu vaccine had a slight increased risk for developing GBS of approximately one additional case of GBS* for every 100,000 people who got the swine flu vaccine."

Not that simple at all.

Many cases were poorly documented making them useless for a detailed study after the fact.

Kind of like California "reducing crime" by not reporting it.
