Facts and theories blended throughout a bombshell interview as the former CDC director made a COVID-19 origin claim prior to any suggestion of a Chinese lab leak.

Throughout their responses and the myriad subsequent testimonies and investigations, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Robert Redfield were often at odds, particularly with regard to the origin of the virus. During a recent podcast discussion with author Dana Parish, the former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reaffirmed his stance on the lab leak with a proposed start in North Carolina.

Joining Parish on her “3rd Opinion Podcast,” Redfield steered the conversation toward the possible engineering of COVID as he said, “You were just asking me how I think… this vaccine was — this virus was engineered. I think it was intentionally engineered as a part of a biodefense program.”

“Some have said that they are concerned that it was actually developed here and China was right. Is that possible?” posited Parish to which her guest replied, “Well, I don’t know if they were framed, but I think there is a real possibility that the virus’ birthplace was Chapel Hill.”  .  .  .

“But the U.S. role was substantial. One is they funded the research both from NIH, the State Department, USAID, and the Defense Department. All four of those agencies helped fund this research. Secondly, the scientific mastermind behind this research is a guy named Ralph Baric at the University of North Carolina, and he was very involved in this research,” asserted Redfield.

“I think he probably helped create some of the original viral lines, but I can’t prove that,” added the former CDC director. “But he was very involved.”

After retiring as head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Fauci was often heard being outraged over any allegations or implications suggesting wrongdoing on his part, including countering claims from Redfield on matters like who had participated in calls on the origin of the virus.  .  .

.  .  .  The facility, then overseen by Fauci, published research on a “SARS-like WIV1-coronavirus” imported from a Chinese lab with authors including a known WIV collaborator from the University of North Carolina, Ralph Baric.

Abstract

The emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS)-CoV underscores the threat of cross-species transmission events leading to outbreaks in humans. Here we examine the disease potential of a SARS-like virus, SHC014-CoV, which is currently circulating in Chinese horseshoe bat populations1. Using the SARS-CoV reverse genetics system2, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone. The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild-type backbone can efficiently use multiple orthologs of the SARS receptor human angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2), replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV. Additionally, in vivo experiments demonstrate replication of the chimeric virus in mouse lung with notable pathogenesis. Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from infection with CoVs using the novel spike protein. On the basis of these findings, we synthetically re-derived an infectious full-length SHC014 recombinant virus and demonstrate robust viral replication both in vitro and in vivo. Our work suggests a potential risk of SARS-CoV re-emergence from viruses currently circulating in bat populations.

A new analysis of genetic material gathered from a live-animal market in Wuhan in the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic strengthens the case that the outbreak originated there when the coronavirus jumped from infected animals to humans, scientists said.

The findings, reported the journal Cell, do not identify any specific infected animal that brought the SARS-CoV-2 virus to a Chinese city inhabited by more than 11 million people. Nor do they definitively prove that the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market was Ground Zero for a pandemic that has resulted in more than 7 million deaths.

But the genetic evidence shows the market met the conditions necessary to spark an outbreak and makes it increasingly difficult to explain how the coronavirus could have emerged from a laboratory, a farm or even from another of the city’s four live-animal markets, the study authors said.

Zoonotic spillovers of viruses have occurred through the animal trade worldwide. The start of the COVID-19 pandemic was traced epidemiologically to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. Here, we analyze environmental qPCR and sequencing data collected in the Huanan market in early 2020. We demonstrate that market-linked severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) genetic diversity is consistent with market emergence and find increased SARS-CoV-2 positivity near and within a wildlife stall. We identify wildlife DNA in all SARS-CoV-2-positive samples from this stall, including species such as civets, bamboo rats, and raccoon dogs, previously identified as possible intermediate hosts. We also detect animal viruses that infect raccoon dogs, civets, and bamboo rats. Combining metagenomic and phylogenetic approaches, we recover genotypes of market animals and compare them with those from farms and other markets. This analysis provides the genetic basis for a shortlist of potential intermediate hosts of SARS-CoV-2 to prioritize for serological and viral sampling. ...

Information in a federal report that pointed to the COVID-19 virus being leaked from a Chinese laboratory rather than coming from nature was "silenced" from being included in discussions with President Joe Biden and in a final report in May 2021, according to sources close to the situation.

As a result, the report concluded that the virus that caused the pandemic likely was not genetically engineered at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, but had come from nature, reports the New York Post on Friday.

The "zoonotic origin" theory on the virus had been backed by several people in the public health establishment including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the then-director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Biden's chief medical adviser.

According to an analysis by three scientists from the Defense Intelligence Agency's National Center for Medical Intelligence, the agency tasked with examining the potential of biological weapons threats and dangerous infectious diseases, there were several findings that were linked to China, The Wall Street Journal first reported Thursday.  ...

Yep. After the Obama Administration shut down domestic gain of function research, the project was moved from Chapel Hill, NC to Wuhan. Two of the members of the research team which created the virus were from Wuhan.

WHile the disclaimer says that this is not evidence of the lab origin of COVID (SARS-CoV 2), the symptoms match, the spike protein linking with the ACE2 receptor site matches, and resistance to  known antivirals matches (recall, Ivermectin and Hydroxycholorquine were known as antiparasitic drugs, not antivirals).

Exactly.  The ChiComs have been infiltrating U.S. universities, research ordganizations, and industries since at least the 1990s...I saw it myself while a student at Virginia Tech...about half the STEM programs there were comprised of military-aged Chinese men, allowed in by the Clinton Administration and funded solely by the PRC government, i.e. the Communist Party of China.

The CDC, via its private front organization EcoHealth (and others?), were funding the ChiComs in Wuhan to perform otherwise illegal gain of function research there to get around U.S. laws and regulations, and then Fauci, Redfield, Birx, and their buddy Peter Daszak engaged in some way too effective CYA when the incompetent Chinese scientists let the virus loose because of shoddy security. 

Fauci and Daszak seemed to have been under the naive and totally stupid belief that their ChiCom counterparts were engaging in good faith research when in fact they were building bioweapons for the Peoples-Liberation Army Navy.
