Sen. Mike Lee Has an Excellent Idea to Stop Democrat Bob Casey From Stealing Pennsylvania’s Senate Race
by Ben Kew Nov. 17, 2024 7:45 am

Senator Mike Lee of Utah has an excellent idea to stop Democrat Bob Casey from stealing Pennsylvania’s Senate race.

Despite losing to Republican David McCormick in an extremely tight race, and the race being called by multiple networks, Casey and his cronies are working behind the scenes to try and steal the seat in the way that Democrats specialize in.

As the race heads to an automatic recount, Casey and Democratic operative Marc Elias are trying to ensure that illegal ballots are counted in order to try and claim victory.

These efforts have been criticized by people across the political spectrum, particularly given Casey’s record of describing Donald Trump as a threat to democracy.

Among those denouncing these efforts is Senator Lee, who also happens to be an experienced jurist and constitutional expert.

According to Lee, the Senate could simply refuse to seat him.

“If Bob Casey doesn’t concede, Pennsylvania keeps counting illegal votes, [and] Casey relies on those votes to claim victory, the Senate could refuse to seat him,” he wrote on the X platform.

Lee went on to cite a constitutional clause that states: “Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members.”

So when the Democrats gain control of the Senate they can do the same?

Doesn't sound like a good boundary to cross without a clear definition of what differentiates when and when they cannot do this...

If the election is clearly stolen, as is being done in broad daylight, the senate is obligated to consider this action.  SCOTUS cracked own on the House's refusal to seat a member in 1969, but it has not been tested lately.

In the meantime, while McCormick still has a lead, it would be nice if Lara Trump made the rounds on television and talked about this rather than self-promoting.  I have little confidence in the party's ability to treat this situation with the gravity it deserves.  They're all high on the narrow victory and oblivious to what lies two steps ahead.

They already have.  They are the ones who set the precedent.

The ‘Stolen’ Election That Poisoned American Politics. It Happened in 1984.

In the middle of a recount at a point where the Democrat was four votes ahead, the Democrat House suspended the recount and declared McCloskey the winner even though McIntyre came to Congress with the winner certification granted to him by the State of Indiana.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Agreed. We'll see what happens.

Might be time for Mr. Trump to get personally and publicly involved in this, and bring whatever pressure he can to bear against Pennsylvania Republicans to do the right thing.

After all, he's been in a similar situation before, and we all know about that here.
