President-elect Donald Trump has announced he has selected CEO of Liberty Energy Chris Wright to lead the Department of Energy in his new administration.

On Saturday, Trump released a statement announcing Wright’s position in his new cabinet.

    “I am thrilled to announce that Chris Wright will be joining my Administration as both United States Secretary of Energy, and Member of the newly formed Council of National Energy,” Trump said. “Wright has been a leading technologist and entrepreneur in Energy.”

@Smokin Joe - I bet you knew about Liberty intimately up there in the Williston as I did at one time.

Liberty was a forward-thinking company who was very innovative in its approach to gaining more access of production to the wellbore.

This might be a guy who can revolutionize new processes and concepts to not only hydrocarbons but all forms of energy,

Am very pleased by this pick,

Waste Of The Day: DOE Paid For Useless Asbestos Training

Topline: The Department of Energy spent $153,616 to train employees in asbestos safety between 2015 and 2022. But the company providing the classes was never certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, meaning most of the training must be redone at a cost of $93,175, per a new inspector general report.

Key facts: The DOE pays the Battelle Energy Alliance to run the Idaho National Laboratory, known for its research on nuclear energy. Asbestos professionals at the lab must be trained according to strict guidelines laid out in a 1990 federal law, as is the case for every public building.

Battelle Energy Alliance has paid its subcontractor, D&D Environmental Consulting, for 8,000 hours of asbestos training for 236 employees since 2007. Last year, a whistleblower told the DOE inspector general that D&D’s accreditation from the EPA had expired in 2015.

I knew of Liberty, but by the time the fracs are done, I'm long gone. I'm there while we're drilling.
I am very hopeful that Wright can steer our energy portfolio in a sane and reliable direction, without waging war on traditional sources which have done tremendously in cleaning up emissions, both from smokestacks and production sites. Yes, coal should be part of that mix, too, because we have hundreds of years supply.

As if the election of Donald Trump, who has called human-caused climate change a hoax, weren’t enough to darken the days of climate activists and subsidy-dependent green energy companies, his naming of fracking magnate Chris Wright to head the Department of Energy underscores the radical change in direction coming to Washington in January.

President Trump, who has vowed to end electric vehicle mandates and expressed his loathing for offshore wind turbines, has found a kindred spirit in Mr. Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy, a Denver oil and natural gas fracking service company.

The president-elect has credited him as “one of the pioneers who helped launch the Shale Revolution.” Like Mr. Trump, Mr. Wright rejects the narrative that the use of fossil fuels is driving a climate crisis.
