Newsom has extreme carbon neutral climate goals, he just passed “CARB” which will raise the price of gas .65 cents JUST TO DISINCENTIVIZE people from having gas powered vehicles

Tax payers NEVER EVEN VOTED ON IT, he did this while everyone was distracted with the presidential election

“Gas prices are about to raise by 65¢. Last night, CARB which is the California Air Resources Board in California just voted 12 to 2 to raise gas prices by up to 65¢ in order to disincentivize people from having gas vehicles in order to meet the state's requirements and what Governor Newsom wants for his carbon neutral initiatives.”

As far as I am aware, taxes at the state level must be approved by the legislature or by popular vote. They cannot be imposed at will by an executive branch agency, as such power cannot be delegated.

Also: has anyone in California ever heard of the "Takings Clause" of the 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution?

Reagan was elected Governor in 1966, so CARB was indeed created during his administration. I think some/many Enviros have always been Luddites and against private property, but at that time they kept their extreme views quiet.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has approved new regulations aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation fuels. These stricter standards are expected to lead to higher gas prices for California residents.

The new regulations require gasoline, diesel, and other fuels to meet higher environmental standards. They also modify the credit system for lower-carbon fuels.
 
California is already known for having some of the highest gas prices in the nation. The new regulations are projected to further increase costs, potentially adding another 65 cents per gallon.

Critics of the new regulations, including California Republicans, argue that the move will disproportionately burden working Californians. Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher expressed concern about the impact on residents, stating that the new rule will exacerbate rising gas prices.

Does the state government believe higher gas prices will curb earthquakes?  Wildfires?  Flooding and Landslides?

At what point does California start searching vehicles entering the state looking for Jerry cans full of gasoline purchased in neighboring states?   At a certain point, if the tax delta is high enough, people will start doing that.

Ah, if Californians were to be seen filling Jerry cans in other states they would probably treated by liberals in those states the same way as Californians that purchase ammo there, they will take down their plate numbers and vehicle description and report them to the CHP to be stopped at the border and searched. A commies gotta do what a commies gotta do.

NY does that with fireworks - they send out undercovers to watch places that sell fireworks who write down NY license plates.  So it wouldn’t surprise me if CA did the same with gasoline.
