Harris faces political wilderness after historic loss leaves her party ‘in tatters’
 
Vice President Kamala Harris's concession speech positioned her to help lead Democrats out of the political wilderness they find themselves in after President-elect Donald Trump dismantled the party with his dominance in Tuesday's election.

But some Democrats are ready to follow Harris's advice and turn the page on President Joe Biden, the vice president, and the policies they have come to embody.
 
Trump, a convicted felon who Democrats have criticized as a xenophobic, misogynistic fascist, not only won the Electoral College on Tuesday but became the first Republican since 2004 to win the popular vote with 4.3 million more ballots cast for him than Harris. He also led Republicans to a win in the Senate, with a 53-45 seat majority, and the GOP is likely to retain control of the House.

In comparison, Democrats, including strategist Jim Manley, contend their party is leaderless and rudderless right now.

I don't think she can even get a berth doing commentary at MSNBC.  If she had what it took to do that the election would have been a lot closer.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

This obviously was not a the-Dem-Party-is-now-dead election outcome, but the Dem Party has an open slot for who will lead the party:

Biden is heading for the beach or dementia ward;

Kackle-a is a loser, and the Dem Party does not give grace to its losers;

Pelosiroo is over-the-hill;

Chuckles is old, not very effective, and has POed the Dem Party' Tlaib-Omar-AOV wing;

PA Governor Shapiro is Jewish;

MN Governor Walz is a moonbatian loser.

Is there any Dem with national recognition who could step into the party leadership shoes? I really do not thing that Governors Hochul, Pritzker, or Noisome would play well outside of uber-Blue enclaves.

Eric Holder, Susan Rice or Valerie Jarrett. I was surprised that while Biden continued to slip that they didn't find a way to insert one of them, which is fortunate. Also Gretchen Whitmer.

After the 2012 election it was that the white population was running out, we were running out of old angry white dudes supposedly and the GOP would never win again unless we elected RINO's who basically lite versions of Democrats.

The Dem Party has embraced woke as their future. While a number of dissident libs have said otherwise, it seems, from the comments I read from libs on a number of on-line forums, the majority still don't understand why they lost. Many of the really believe that Harris wasn't woke enough.
So, it will be interesting to see if the Dems can come up with a candidate who eschews woke and can still get the nomination for 2028. Manchin left the party, and maybe only Fetterman is not totally woke among current top Dem politicos.
If they nominate a Harris clone i.e. one with the same woke policies, they're doomed to defeat again in 2028.

The Democrat party didn't select Harris She was picked by a few of the top power elites and the rest just fell in line.

The Dems painted themselves into a corner with no avenue for escape. The trajectory of the party since Obama was/is to get woke and woker. The Dems were determined to set identity as the major basis for selecting candidates. A DEI candidate like Harris was inevitable.
She never would have had a chance before Obama, but now the Dem Party appears to be run by liberal, white females who think everybody believes in the same things they do. Which is why we saw a million ads focusing on abortion "rights" at the expense of more important issues.
The reality: most Americans don't think like they do.
