Now this is interesting, I didn't see this. I would love bullet trains in the US, just i would prefer them to be privately funded. California's HSR is truly a useless disaster as described by Trump.

Let's keep what we have on the rails first.

There were 742 derailments in 2023 alone, 53 of them major(costing over $1 million).
That does not include all the accidents (4845) and the fatalities (995) and 6705 nonfatal injuries.

Since passenger and freights share tracks in the wide open spaces, bullet trains might not be advisable yet.
