Here are Trump’s potential picks to lead the Justice Department

.

As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to assume office, the clock has started for his choice to name the next attorney general.

The role of the next attorney general under the 47th president will significantly influence the administration’s legal direction and his relationship with the Department of Justice, an agency under President Joe Biden that has rigorously pursued criminal indictments against Trump, and one that Trump said had been “weaponized” against him during his reelection campaign.

Several possible candidates for attorney general have already emerged, each bringing unique qualifications and varying degrees of loyalty to Trump.

Here are just some of the names that have been floated, which could change as Trump prepares to return to the White House.

Although we would hate to see him go, Ken Paxton would make swamp critter heads explode.

Not crazy about him pulling members of the Senate. I wonder if Ken Cuccinelli might be on the list further down. I think Aileen Cannon would be a great choice.

This is the man that Mike Davis of Article 3 Project recommends.

Whomever the AG ends up being I want to see someone who cleans house and begins investigations/prosecutions of those involved in all the legal persecutions that occurred over the last 4 years. People need to go to prison and do hard time.

She needs to be put on an appellate court and then the SCOTUS. We need judges who focus on the law and don't try to make policy.

I don't want him pulling Senators or judges, in many cases we need them where they are.

What I do want is someone who gets it. We need a figure who's aggressively going to tackle the cancer that's metastasized in DC, not a placeholder.
The Republic is lost.

Trump has a short onetime window to strike back at the empire. Use it or lose it.

I think you are right. Besides, it's bad optics for the Democrats when Democrats attack a female candidate.

There are two problems that I see: 1) The odds favor judge Thomas being the next retiree. He being in the appellate for such a short time won't work. She could be a replacement for the next libtard. She would be ideal to place Sotomayor, or Kagan.
2) She would be AG for 4 yeas possibly 6 if Vance gets elected. Theoretically he could nominate her, but would he?

I understood when he did not do it the first term, but after the extent of the Lawfare they pulled this time. Git'em

I hope she's not AG. I really want to see a tough prosecutor who goes after all the corrupt people behind the lawfare. The individual who does that will never make it to the SCOTUS. If Thomas steps down I want to see someone who is in their late 40's to early 50's that has a solid record. Also, I think one element that doesn't get looked at closely enough is how solid a conservative is the spouse of the nominee.

That is exactly why Jeff Sessions was such a weak performer last time. And taking him out of the Senate caused a Dem pickup in a deep red Alabama,

When it comes to the Justice department and the FBI, I want Mr. Trump to be like Samson.

Not sure if you remember correctly. Samson is described as Noble SUICIDE. We want Trump to keep going.

I think @Fishrrman is referring to the Augean stable episode @verga but I could be mistaken about that.
