Hollywood Celebrities Break Down over Trump Victory: America Has Chosen to ‘Destroy Itself’

David Ng 6 Nov 2024

President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive victory over Kamala Harris on Tuesday has sent left-wing Hollywood celebrities into a dark psychological spiral, with some expressing apocalyptic visions of the country’s future and others condemning those who voted for Trump as immoral and sexist.

“It’s a war on women,” Grammy-winning pop star Billie Eilish warned.

“The fact that the country would choose to destroy itself by voting in a convicted felon rapist and Nazi is a sign of deep nihilism. To put it mildly,” John Cusack wrote in a since-deleted X post.

“Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done,” Christina Applegate wrote.

Barbra Streisand was inconsolable: “There are no words left.”

Trump won a resounding victory over Harris in Tuesday’s presidential election, taking both the electoral and popular votes as all of the key swing states landed or are expected to land in his column. The decisiveness of the vote shocked many on both sides of the divide who had  expected a protracted battle lasting weeks.

Hollywood celebrities put on an impressive show of force for Kamala Harris in the final days of the election cycle, with dozens of stars participating in a blitz of endorsements that gave the impression of a last-minute surge of support. But as with most things in Hollywood, it proved to be mostly smoke and mirrors as elite enthusiasm failed to translate into the necessary votes.

Trump’s victory signals the end of the once almighty celebrity endorsement as a potent political weapon used by Democrats to influence young voters and others who may not be on top of the issues. Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris was promoted in the corporate news media as a game-changer. But the singer’s power as an influencer appears to have diminished to such an extent that her opinion is now virtually immaterial, at least when it come to presidential elections.

In the hours after polls closed, celebrities flooded social media with their despair and anger over the increasingly inevitable outcome — Trump will be the 47th president of the United States.

In her first public words following Trump’s victory, Barbra Streisand expressed deep despondency.

The fact is that Hollywood celebrities make so much money they can toss millions at these corrupt politicians and it does not hurt them even a little bit.

So the time has come to boycott everything done by Hollywood.  I used to go and see every movie in the theaters when they came out with the exception of animated and horror flicks.  In the last ten years, I can count on my one hand and have a finger or two extra of the movies I have seen in the theater.

Everything they are doing is crap,  Literally!

California is dying.  The decline of the state has started.  No one in their right mind would move back there.  And those stuck there, many of them are looking to get out.  They will, and the decline of CA will continue.

They're talking when they should be packing their bags and booking their flights.

They have been hit twice this year, once cause Kamala failed, and second no one wants to see their movies any more.

Trump and the GOP congress sure won't bail out movie studios.

I understand that Canuckistan is just the kind of socialist dreamland they should go, little Castro Jr. seems to be exactly the type of leader they desire.

To which "disability rights" does she refer, do you suppose? And as for "female rights," no, dear - you'll have all the same rights post-Jan. 20, 2025, as you do now.

I simply can't fathom having a life so devoid of value that I would "follow" useless simpletons such as these and the thousands of others out there. Breathlessly awaiting their next brain dead opinion on some topic they have absolutely no clue about other than their own biased perceptions.

They provide nothing of any inherent value to society except some form of entertainment, aka Court Jesters. Used to be a time when they were looked upon as leeches on society, long past due for that perception to return.

Social media has become a cancer and a pox on society...

Wrong again, moonbats.  America chose to destroy Obama's policies and legacy.

I don't recall Trump being convicted of rape.  And Trump is not a Nazi last I checked.  So, Mr Cusack in my humble opinion is guilty of slander.  It would be great if Trump sued him for everything he has.  Let his next appearance be on the street with a cup in his hand, wearing soiled clothing from peeing himself.

On his best day, Mr. Cusack is a B actor.  And Barbara Streisand, is an old hack from the 60s that hasn't done much since.  Please, the whole bloody lot of you, just go already.  Go to Canada, or whatever socialist nation you will feel most comfortable in.  Just get out of the USA.

The last thing I saw Cusack in was Grosse Pointe Blanc and he did that in 1997 and I doubt he has made anything I would care for since then because I can’t think of a single movie he’s done since then.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Boo Hoo...No one rolled out the red carpet and worshiped them or their opinions.

COuld it be that ordinary people, those who can't afford to be glitterati and whose names aren't up in lights, just don't care what people think who live in a world so alien to getting the kids to the public school, dealing with the car on the fritz, and figuring out how to put food on the dinner table that they might as well be from one of the fantasy lands they play parts in.

They aren't just whining because they lost the election, but because they lost the ability to influence the outcome. That's gotta hurt even more.

Not just not 'stars' receiving adulation, but their opinions are insignificant, too.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
