The proposition reclassified hard drug possession
 
Knewz.com is reporting that California ranks as the 4th worst state for homelessness. Nearly 186,000 people in California are currently homeless, living on the streets or in shelters. This marks an increase of 8% since 2022.

In 2014, California voters passed Proposition 47. The proposition reclassified hard drug possession but has been criticized as a failed initiative, as crime and homelessness have since surged. In this photo gallery, we examine California's attempts to address crime and homelessness in more detail.

The more they spend, the worse the problem will become.

And since they'll ALWAYS increase spending, what does that portend?

Gee, I don't know, usually people who have a sense of accomplishment tend to prosper. I'm all for giving the homeless a hand up, but the hand outs need to stop.  There's no incentive for people to do things on their own.  People fall on hard times, but putting them on a continuous government dole doesn't resolve anything. 

I remember when Regan came up with a work program; he paid companies to hire and give on the job training so people learned a skill set.  I used to babysit for a lady who was on such a program; she received housing assistance and food stamps as long as she was in the work program. After awhile she was able to get off the program as she trained long enough to learn her job and was able to support her and her daughter.  She then felt good about herself!

Making drugs accessible and paying for food, clothing and shelter doesn't seem to offer any incentive for people to leave the streets do they?

Maybe no paying for anything for them is the answer?
