Harris’ offensive pitch to women: If you vote GOP, it’s because your man makes you
By Daniel McCarthy
Published Oct. 30, 2024, 6:13 p.m. ET

Kamala Harris’s closing message to women couldn’t be more condescending: If you aren’t voting for me, it must be because a man won’t let you.

Her campaign treats women as prisoners of their own marriages and relationships, as if the only way a woman can be free is if she’s wedded to the Democratic Party.

The vice president has an especially big problem with married women: They voted for Donald Trump 52% to 47% over the Biden-Harris ticket four years ago.

But what if those weren’t really women’s votes — what if they were men’s votes, cast by women too scared to stand up for themselves?

Harris stand-ins Michelle Obama and Liz Cheney have been out on the campaign trail and on TV pushing this patronizing line in recent days.

“If you are a woman who lives in a household of men that don’t listen to you or value your opinion, just remember that your vote is a private matter,” Obama lectured a Michigan audience.

Hollywood star Julia Roberts has narrated a new Kamala Harris commercial that is encouraging women to intentionally deceive their Trump-supporting husbands by secretly voting for the Harris-Walz ticket — in effect, canceling out their husbands’ votes.

I am a poll worker.

The reason you are not allowed to take  a photo of the ballot during voting is in the past husbands would tell their wives to take a photo of the ballot after she marked the selection to make sure it was the candidate the husband wanted.

Yes, this was very common especilly among evangelicals with subservient wives.

Yeah, maybe in 1950.

Bud, I live right in mass center of evangelicals in East Texas, and I will let you know this is just another piece of your  left wing bullshit.  If anything, it is the women controlling the narrative in this area.  October and November?   The guys are more worried getting corn to the deer feeder and just want to get to the Deer Stand.

Stop it already.  And btw...  where are those posts or information that is supposed to make me out to be a racist.   Still waiting.......

Nonsense.

While some having restrictions, most states allow a photo of your personal ballot. Where there are limitations, the intent is to ensure privacy. Limit photos and you don’t have a difficult time controlling it. It has nothing - zero - to do with overzealous husbands. That is just nonsense.

And when was this? Because before cell phones became common 20 years ago you'd have to wait to get the film developed, which would be well after the election.

What a sad fabrication with all your little commie woke buzzwords.

I never said you made a  racist post.  Never did. i said having a racist  flag on your wall makes you a racist. Everyone today knows what that flag means and what race it is going after.. No one would post a nazi flag as the profile photo and say that was their great granddadies heritage to let them off the hook

BTW show me a post where I lied.  I admitted I made some errors and fessed up to them. I am  not 100% perfect. I make mistakes especially when confronted by 3-5 rw nuts at a time a ds hurridly trying toback up my statements I sometimes make errors

And yes there are still husbands who control their wives and many wives who are subservient. A recent thread on FR regarding womens right to vote had 60% of posters saying the amendment was a mistake  and plenty of FR women agreed with it  with some  freeper women saying they would give up their right to vote if only men were allowed to vote.

I live in a 95% voting trump county and yes the issue of not allowing  photos and the reason I stated is taught to every poll worker.
You don'tt know jack shite.

Point 1...   You are equating the Southern Heritage  to Nazi-ism?   You've already lost that argument.  The rank and file Southerners of the era were God fearing folk, who took up arms as the Northern Army poured across the Potomoc into Virgina.  Your demeaning of folks like this (my ancestors) just epitomizes what level of a POS you are.  Just who are your ancestors?  I might want to comment on them in response.

Point 2....  These ancestors were not slave owners and were defending against an invasion.  Many of these were showed extreme valor in battle, and abhored the economic damage that the North was inflcting.  What were they supposed to do?

Point 3-  We all have a varied ancestry.  Guess what?  Another one of my ancestors was Benjamin Lundy who was know as the Father of the Abolitionist Movement.  And I am just as proud of that sect in my ancestry as the two were cut down at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  Which leads to the matter of slavery.  It is (was) an abhorrence.  But....  honestly outside of the slavery issue.....   just what did the south get wrong idelologically?  Less federal control to states sure at first comes to mind.

No one is listening to your left wing bull shit.  In fact, I am disappointed, I wasted 5 minutes responding to your ass.

You are basing the state of Conservatism on an informal poll at FR (TOS)?

Way to shore up your credibility.  /s   :silly:

Nonsense.

BS Before cameras the husband would demand to look at his wife ballot.

This is from FR. Plenty of women still in subservient relationships/lifestyles in 2024 especially with evangelicals who take orders from thei husband or are sad excuses for their gender to many will give up their right to vote.

Allengra, crz and bigredd are women.

As much as I would hate it since my ancestors fought for for this country, I would give up my right to vote if it kept all of those stupid women out there from voting.

In a heartbeat.

To be fair, this is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but the voting demographic is crystal clear.

Without the AWFLs (affluent white female liberals) and under 30 single women, there would be permanent conservative majorities (not necessarily the current Republican leadership tho).

This isn’t a new observation, but it’s worth understanding when we’re trying to understand how these close races keep staying in the “stealable” zone.

I have mentioned this quite often and get the same reply you have brought.

I also mentioned that maybe it’d be best if we allowed only those who own property (land) the right to vote.

You are basing the entire concept of Conservatism on a few bad actors/apples on a 46 post FR thread?

You are killing me Smalls.    :silly:

BTW, how about some details of your ancestry and background.

There are other reasons of course but the husband asking thier wives to take  a photo to prove who they voted for is taught to this day in every  poll class as one reason why photos are not allowed.

All nonsense. FR?

Look. As a poll worker, do you not make sample ballots available on request?  Are sample ballots not available at Town Halls, court buildings, polling places, county clerks?  Good grief, the noblesse to think you are honorable or even chivalrous to protect the “weaker” sex by prohibiting photos.

From your posting history it is pretty scary they allowed you to be a Poll Worker. I would hope honesty would enter into the equation, when the people are chosen.   You seem the kind to put the thumb on the scale.

It's the marked ballot I am talking about not sample or unmarked ballots.

I get it but if I am a controlling husband, I will school my timid spouse with the sample ballot. As for proving to a domineering husband how the weak spouse voted… well, I’m just delighted that we have such societal safeguards in place. If someone told you that, and you believed it… my goodness.

You seem confused as to where you are. Here is the link to FR: http://www.freerepublic.com

I don't know of any 95% voting counties for one candidate in the USA unless that candidate has no opposition.

1. I am sure there are.

2.Roberts cty texas voted 95% for trumo in 2016 and 96% in 2020.

30 Texas counties voted 85% or more for trump in 2020

Lot of counties across this country who voted mainly trump. Especially in counties in places like W.Va with coal mning or out west with agriculture.

Not any different than the liberal urban areas who vote 90-95% for democrats

The Julia Roberts campaign is actually an insult to conservative women, much like career women look down upon stay-at-home mothers.

Wow, the Dems have no hope of understanding the unwashed deplorable Nazi garbage masses.

Is it windy atop your ivory tower, Julia?
