New CEO Kelly Ortberg might sell Boeing’s ailing space business
. The stock is rising.
Friday, The Wall Street Journal reported
that Boeing was looking to sell its space business which is part of its Defense, Space & Security segment that generated sales of $5.5 billion and an operating loss of $2.4 billion in the third quarter.
That loss included some $2 billion in one-time charges including charges related to Boeing’s Starliner, the reusable spaceship that failed to return two astronauts from the International Space Station during a test mission.
“Boeing doesn’t comment on market rumors or speculation,” the company said in an emailed statement.
