Prince George County Executive Democrat Angela Alsobrooks is holding a 14-point lead over former Gov. Larry Hogan (R-MD) in Maryland’s Senate race, according to a new poll.
The latest poll from Emerson College Polling/DC News Now/the Hill shows Alsobrooks earned 54% of the support to Hogan’s 40%. Six percent indicated they were still undecided in this race.
This poll marks a 5-point uptick in support for Alsobrooks since September, and support for Hogan dropped by 2 points. Other polls have shown Alsobrooks with a similar, wide lead over Hogan.
Alsobrooks has a 27-point advantage with women voters over Hogan.
While Maryland is a heavily Democratic state, some Democrats were worried that Hogan’s popularity from his time as governor of the state could sway voters and the Senate.
Republicans need just one seat to flip to rule the chamber, if all other Republican held seats remain so.
Alsobrooks and Hogan are running to replace outgoing Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MN), who is retiring.
