Nothing good has happened with public education since the DOE was established during the Carter years. Why keep it?

Meanwhile:

Good graph that explains a lot.

Wish we also had a graph of the % of Democrats who fill those positions over time as it would be dramatic increases

John Dewey did his work well.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

I'm sure we've all seen that 8th grade final exam from 100 or so years ago, where the kiddies had to answer questions with which a lot of us would have trouble (and no current 8th grader could answer). So who, exactly, benefited from the 45 years the Dept. of Educ. has been in existence, besides the unions?
The abnormal is not the normal just because it is prevalent.

Another good point.  And the answer is...

During his 1980 presidential campaign, former President Ronald Reagan ran on shutting down the Department of Education, then in its infancy. But he couldn’t even get a Republican in Congress to introduce a bill to do it.

One doesn't need a bill to do it.  Doing nothing eliminates all funding.  Passing a funding bill takes action.  The Department of Education survives because Republicans take action to fund it.  If they took no action at all, it would cease to exist by starvation.

I am sick and tired of Republicans voting to fund, fund, fund, fund all these government departments that destroy them.  Get rid of federal funding, and there will be thousands of unemployed liberals forced to go looking for a real job.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

There was already a call for Trump to "use it" in one of the articles posted here.
