Former President Bill Clinton said in a speech Monday that Georgia nursing student Laken Riley's murder would not have happened if the alleged killer, an illegal immigrant, was properly vetted.

While campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris in the Peach State, Clinton accused her rival, former President Donald Trump, of tanking negotiations over a bipartisan border compromise in Congress because he wanted it to be a campaign issue.

He seemed to suggest that Riley's death could have been avoided if Congress was able to pass a compromise – despite the alleged killer having already been vetted.

"She's the only candidate who has actually endorsed a bill that would hold down immigration any given year to a certain point and then made sure we gave people a decent place to live, didn't divide people from their children. And we did total vetting before people got in. Now, Trump killed the bill," Clinton said.

Clinton looks like he's not doing well....the hunting hat is supposed to convince people that Harris/Walz are pro gun????? :shrug:

Clinton doesn't look well at all, I must agree @libertybele . Granted, he's not a youngster, but his eyes don't look good.

I can't help but wonder how many young voters he would influence. How many remember him?

He's only a legend in his own mind. :laugh:

@berdie  In looking back, IMHO it was during the Clinton presidency that the Office of the President lost the respect and honor that it once held. Nixon certainly had his issues, but with Bill he flat out lied to the people and his immoral character was on display for all to see; especially with our youth.  It's been downhill since with the DEMS.

Right now we have the governor of MI making fun of Catholics who receive communion. They have stooped very low. Bogus impeachments, Russia collusion etc.  Granted the GOP/e isn't a whole lot better because they side with them a good deal of the time.

@libertybele there have been people here determined to undermine this country since before the ink was dry on our Constitution and they are not about to stop until WE stop them. The Clintons are indeed the ones who completely politicized the entire Federal government.

Former President Bill Clinton‘s attempt to pin the blame on former President Donald Trump for the death of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley backfired after his comments were used as a soundbite by the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign.

Clinton, who has been dispatched to Georgia to campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris, was trying to make a broader case that Trump is responsible for her death because he told Republicans in Congress to vote against an immigration bill earlier this year.

“Trump killed the bill. The bill was being written by senior Republicans in the Senate, and he killed the bill. Why?” Clinton said during a stop in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Trump’s campaign clipped the second part of Clinton’s comment in a post to X, deploying it on social media, where it then was recirculated by Trump-friendly surrogates and supporters.

“You got a case in Georgia not very long ago, didn’t you — they made an ad about it,” Clinton said, referencing the killing of Laken Riley. “A young woman who had been killed by an immigrant. Yeah, well, if they’d all been properly vetted, that probably wouldn’t have happened.”

He's 78 and still married to Hildabeast. That has taken a toll on him.

She has a Broadway musical out called "Suffs" about women's suffrage that has been a flop.
