Tim Walz defends past misstatements as speaking ‘passionately’

.

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) on Sunday laid out his defense for prior misstatements on the campaign trail, chalking up some of his inaccurate rhetoric to the passion that he has for hot-button policy issues.

The interview with Fox News Sunday was the vice presidential nominee’s first Sunday show appearance after largely dodging national media since being tapped by Vice President Kamala Harris to be her running mate.

“Look, I speak passionately. I had an entire career decades before I was in public office,” Walz said. “I’m very proud of my 24 years in service and my record. I have never disparaged someone else in this, but I know that’s not what Donald Trump does.”

Walz was pressed on inaccuracies about his personal experience using intrauterine insemination rather than in vitro fertilization, a 1995 DUI arrest, his military record, and falsely claiming he was at the pro-democracy Tiananmen Square protests in China in the late 1980s.

He, Walz, lied about Amber Thurman at the VP Debate.  I am glad that Shannon set him straight.  This Presidential/VP team is truly not above lying to win votes.  A terrible disservice to the American people.

SIGN OF DESPERATION? Tim Walz to Do Interview on FOX News Sunday

SIGN OF DESPERATION? Tim Walz to Do Interview on FOX News Sunday
by Mike LaChance Oct. 5, 2024 9:20 pm

Tim Walz is going to appear on FOX News Sunday tomorrow to be interviewed by host Shannon Bream.

This is notable for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a sharp change from the Harris/Walz campaign’s ‘hide from the press’ strategy. They must know that isn’t working anymore. Second, FOX News??? Democrats, particularly their base voters, hate the FOX News channel with the heat of a thousand suns.

Who exactly does Walz think he is going to appeal to by doing this interview? Who is the target audience?

The Hill reports:

Quote
Walz to sit down for solo Fox News interview

Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), the Democratic vice presidential nominee, will join Fox News Sunday for his first solo interview on Oct. 6 at 2:00 p.m. according to a Saturday announcement.

The outlet said Shannon Bream will ask him about the state of the race, the September vice presidential debate and other news of the day.

Walz has come under attention recently from some in the media for not doing more appearances.

“I’m bewildered a little bit by the absence of both the presidential candidate and the vice presidential candidate on television since they became the nominees,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said o ahead of the vice presidential debate earlier this week. “Because that’s how people get to know you and they haven’t really spent a lot of time with either of them before now. So, I also think that it may be a little bit of a problem for Walz having not done this.”

Walz received criticism after he faced off with Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), with some observers sayign he came off as less polished than his counterpart.

Dustin Grage, a columnist from Minnesota who knows an awful lot about Tim Walz, made this observation on Twitter/X:

When you don't believe in right or wrong, in morality, this is what you get: a guy for whom lies are just passion.

This makes all the sense in the world.  If the Harris/Walz ticket thought they had a lead, they would have fuly avoided any contact with Fox.

Now if the numbers do keep cratering, and Kamel-uh begs for a debate.  Trump should only let it be Fox, and only Hannity and Levin can moderate.

Because they are just as partisan as the CNN, ABC, and CBS hacks

That did not go well for Timmy

This is one example, of why Trump and his internal polling is so optimistic.  Only a Hail Mary political call would constitute this dufous from appearing on Fox.

Don't forget, I believe the vast majority of polling outfits are just bold to put their finger on the scale as their MSM counterparts.  At this point, I think Trump is winning, but is it outside the MOC (Margin of Cheating)?  I don't think so, especially with the flood of reports of dims moving illegals to big blue cities in Swing states.

If his misstatements were mere hyperbole, the way a lot of Trump's are, passion might be a reasonable explanation.  If not, then they are either lies (if Walz knew the truth and said something else), or bulls**t, in the technical sense provided by Harry G. Frankfurt:  saying whatever is expedient without regard to its truth or falsity.  (Incidentally, Frankfurt concludes bulls**tting is a worse enemy of truth than lying.  The liar at least has enough regard for the truth to know it, though he says the opposite, while the bulls**tter has no regard for the truth at all.)
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

I  have found that most liars are very passionate when telling their falsehoods.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

I  have found that most liars are very passionate when telling their falsehoods.

And then you have liars, who lie just for the hell of it.  Want an example?  Walz' made a claim that his son witnessed a shooting at a Community Center....   Did it happen?  Nope.

I have been refering a lot lately to the wisdom of Norm MacDonald....   Here's a good bit, that applies to Walz...
