Once again, two places I have worked temperatures were recorded as being at -54 degrees Fahrenheit, announced on radio and TV as being official National Weather Service temperatures measured at their respective airports. Going back, because those temperatures were in the mid-80s and the early '90s, just for the sake of bragging rights to get the exact dates, I was confronted with an inability to locate those records. Record low temperatures for both locations,one in North Dakota, another in Wyoming, were now claimed as being in the mid-40s below zero.
That's a head scatcher for someone who had worked in and through that weather (actually colder in ND, even if unofficially, but also because 54 below zero is where mercury solidifies). Measurements in ND with an alcohol "spirit" thermometer placed the actual static air temperature at -60.
Now, I see. People only rarely look at low temperatures when discussing "global warming" but since the average temperature is just that (high+low)/2, raising the low temperature has the effect of raising the average, if only by 1/2 of the amount it is raised. Both temperatures had been gimmicked by several degrees, resulting in an increase in the average of 3 1/3 or more degrees Fahrenheit. So a 7 degree shift in the actual Low temp, would be divided by two, giving a 3 1/2 degree Fahrenheit shift upwards, which in terms of degrees Celsius is 1.95 degrees, or close enough to the two degree predicted apocalyptic increase.
The data set has been corrupted by people with an agenda, in complete disregard for science, to push the idea that warming is occurring in a steady trend instead of a cyclical process. The changes to the recorded data are being made where no one looks for skullduggery when they are looking for warming--in the LOW temperatures.
This isn't science.
It's pushing an agenda that has nothing to do with science, but everything to do with control.
