THere are other ways to 'not have a child like that'.

Time out...
Corner, face first...

I didn't realize being a kid with apparently no established boundaries was a capital offense, but that's the fault of the parent, not the kid.

Establish boundaries early, reinforce them, and having a father in the home who works toward that goal sure might help.
