Opinion: How can Usha Vance stand by her husband as he fans bigotry?

I can’t get over how much I have in common with Usha Vance, wife of the Republican vice presidential candidate. We both grew up in Southern California with immigrant Indian parents who came to America in the ‘70s. She could have easily been the kid sister of my best friend, an Indian American woman who grew up in an upper-middle-class suburb of San Diego, minutes away from Usha Vance’s childhood home.
 
Usha is a name shared by two of my beloved aunts. One a professor, like Usha Vance’s parents, whose name I would marvel to see on the spines of books. Another who didn’t get to finish college, who served love through her special pressed triangle sandwiches brimming with a delicious shaak of curried vegetables.

I can easily conjure a picture of Usha Vance’s childhood, back when she was named Usha Bala Chilukuri. Growing up in a predominantly white suburb, with highly educated Indian immigrant parents, an expectation of academic excellence, her parents passing on their Telugu language, culture and Hindu values through a close-knit Indian community.

Though “Usha” seems like an easy name for American tongues, I’m sure kids at school found ways to poke fun anyway. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that she, like me, was told many times growing up, by well-meaning adults, how good her English was.

The author is, in my opinion, a real shit for brains, pro illegal immigration, and anti-conservative zealot for bringing Vance's wife into the issue.  If you don't stand for illegal immigration, it now makes you a bigot?  The suggestion is she would be pro illegal immigration if it weren't for her excellent childhood is sickening.  So, people maybe said you speak good English.  They said that to my kids, who are white because we taught them to speak proper English and people recognized it.  To our kids, it was encouragement because people do like to hear other people use proper English not the gutter English so common today.  How bad is the English of America?  When I was in Hong Kong in my Navy days, I was having a snort at the Hilton and a white server came in and she had the most beautiful English accent I ever heard.  Then she started speaking Chinese with the other servers.  I was impressed, to say the least, so I asked her how many languages she spoke.  She gave me a bit of an icy look and said, "2 1/2. I speak English, I speak Chinese, and I speak American."  So, I took my tail, which at this point was between my legs and went elsewhere.  This has story has as much to do with Vance's wife as does the author's article. :tongue2:

More rubbish from a leftist who either can't tell the difference between legal and illegal immigration, or knows better and wants to obscure the difference for political gain by his side of the aisle.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

If they entered the country legally, they would not be ILLEGAL immigrants.

Illegal immigrants are cutting the line in front of already disadvantaged Americans.

Who got the state-subsidized motel room?  The illegal immigrant or the disabled homeless American veteran?

Heck, I've been called a racist in the past month here at TBR by another member.   

But as with that idiot here, spewing the racist accusation rant, is a 100% tell that you are losing the argument.   And another good sign that Trump and Vance are hitting the mark, and the dims are getting desperate.
