Ukrainian prosecutors have initiated an investigation into a suspected war crime by Russian forces against prisoners of war in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.

According to Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the incident occurred on November 10, 2024, during an assault by Russian forces on Ukrainian defensive positions near the village of Novodmytrivka.

During the attack, two soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine were taken captive. The captives were allegedly forced to strip naked and marched under armed escort through a wooded area, where they were subsequently executed.

Investigators are also examining reports suggesting that three additional injured Ukrainian servicemen were killed by Russian forces at the same location.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that investigative measures are underway to clarify all details of the incident. Officials have emphasized that the killing of prisoners of war constitutes a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.  .  .  .

Over 1,000 soldiers from Russia's 20th Guards Motor Rifle Division, based in Volgograd, deserted during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, according to an investigation by Russian media Vazhnyie Istorii published on November 19.

Journalists obtained a list of the division’s deserters from an unnamed source.

The document, compiled no later than April 2024, was sent by the division’s command to regional authorities across Russia, requesting assistance in locating the missing soldiers.

The document contains the names, birthdates, and other details of 1,010 soldiers—equivalent to the size of an entire regiment. It includes 858 contract soldiers, 150 mobilized troops, and two conscripts, along with 26 junior officers, a major, and two lieutenant colonels. Journalists verified the list's authenticity by comparing it to a 2022 registry of the division’s personnel.

According to the investigation, the Russian Armed Forces have not disclosed the total number of deserters, but the list highlights “the significant scale of desertion during the war.”

Many deserters eventually returned to their unit voluntarily, some after committing crimes. One mobilized soldier, who fled the 20th division, shared that many of his acquaintances who had deserted avoided punishment upon returning. The soldier also plans to return to avoid being on the wanted list, saying, "Someone has to be there—there aren’t enough people," Vazhnyie Istorii reported.  .  .  .

UKRAINE, KHARKIV OBLAST, Nov 20 – The Russian army lost 84 units of weapons and military equipment in the Kharkiv direction over the past day, reported the “Kharkiv” group of forces.

Russia started its new offensive north and northeast in the Kharkiv region in May, but Ukrainian troops have stabilized the frontline in this section since. Now, heavy battles are ongoing in and around Vovchansk (three miles from the border, 46 miles away from Kharkiv) and near Lyptsi (six miles from the border, 12 miles from Kharkiv.)

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army lost two tanks, three armored combat vehicles, six artillery systems, 22 vehicles, four units of special equipment, and 47 drones over the past day.

Also, the Russian army lost 132 troops in the Kharkiv direction over the day.

In addition, the Ukrainian army destroyed 79 Russian personnel shelters, two drone control centers, one ammunition storage site, and one fuel and oil storage site.

The Russians conducted one S-300 missile strike, five airstrikes with nine glide missiles, 39 kamikaze drone strikes, and fired 424 times at Ukrainian positions over the past day.  .  .

It's not the cruise missiles per se but the ICBMs in general, and warheads in particular.  Those have a shelf-life if not carefully and regularly maintained. The Russians do neither.

Ukrainian OWA-UAV's struck Russian 105th assembly and testing building at the site located at the Kapustin Yar Nuclear Missile Test site at Kapustin Yar Cosmodrome.

This strike was in response to Russian ICBM strike on Dnipro.

Kapustin Yar Cosmodrome is Russia's premier missile test range since 1947 and had most recently conducted on April 12th 2024 a successful test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The site has mainly been focused on launches of the RT-2PM Topol aka SS-25 Sickle over the past decade and had a S500 test in 2011.

Ukrainian OWA-UAV's struck the facility on July 9th 2024.

If I'm reading the map correctly should be the area highlighted in red where Ukrainian drones struck will wait for geolocation.

IRBM.  Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile.  It was an RS-26 Rubezh.
