Harris to sit for interview with MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle
by Dominick Mastrangelo - 09/25/24 8:55 AM ET

Vice President Harris will sit for an interview with MSNBC Wednesday evening, the cable news channel said.

The interview, which will air on the network at 7 p.m. EDT, will be conducted by host Stephanie Ruhle in Pittsburgh, where the vice president is campaigning this week.

MSNBC did not provide additional details on the planned sit-down, noting only the conversation would be one-on-one between Ruhle and Harris and air as part of a special two-hour block of “All In with Chris Hayes.”

Pundit Joy Reid regularly hosts a show in the 7 p.m. hour on MSNBC, a channel that features a slew of hosts who are routinely and sharply critical of former President Trump and his allies.

Last week, during an appearance on Bill Maher’s program on “Max,” Ruhle said Harris is “not running for perfect.”

“She’s running against Trump, we have two choices,” the host said. “There are some things you might not know the answer to and in 2024, unlike 2016 for a lot of the American people, we know exactly what Trump will do, who he is and the kind of threat he is to democracy.”

Stephanie Ruhle's Shameless Slobbering Over Kamala Harris Pays Off Big for Her
Bonchie
~4 minutes

Stephanie Ruhle's shameless slobbering over Kamala Harris has paid off big for the MSNBC host.

While appearing on Bill Mahar over the weekend, Ruhle proclaimed that Harris doesn't need to answer tough questions because the election is a binary choice. She went on to describe Donald Trump as a "threat to democracy," claiming it is expecting "Nirvana" for the vice president sit down for a real interview.

OK, but this begs the question:
Why did you even turn that on in the first place?

Full disclosure:
The only time I turn the single tv in the house (downstairs) on is in the evening to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. It's turned OFF at all other times. And I put the mute on for all commercials during those two shows...

MSNBC’s Ruhle: Harris ‘Didn’t Want to Get Deep on’ Her Tariff Plan When I Interviewed Her

Ian Hanchett 25 Sep 2024

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” MSNBC host and NBC Senior Business Analyst Stephanie Ruhle discussed her interview with 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris and stated that Harris “didn’t want to get deep on what they’re going to do, what her plan is on tariffs.”

Ruhle said, “Trump’s plan would be economically disastrous, but it’s tricky, because President Biden has some on the books. He’s potentially looking to do more. But what Kamala Harris is really talking about right — the idea for tariffs — or when Trump gets on the podium and talks about it, he’s talking about bringing back American jobs and bringing back American manufacturing, you’ve got to get real, because tariffs are only going to hurt this country. And while he’s saying it to an audience, that same audience has Amazon boxes outside their front door, and we’ve been accustomed to the way that we live. But they are bringing manufacturing back. So, while she didn’t want to get deep on what they’re going to do, what her plan is on tariffs. They do have a serious plan as it relates to manufacturing. If you think about the big economic legislation that has been passed in the last four years, we have actually seen billions of dollars being put to work, thousands of jobs being created, [many] of which are in red states and red counties bringing manufacturing jobs back. Now, they’re not the old manufacturing jobs, they are new manufacturing.”

Ruhle added, “In total, she is laying out a detailed economic plan.”

Harris on Her Tariff Stance: You Need to ‘Have a Plan’

During a portion of an interview with MSNBC host and NBC Senior Business Analyst Stephanie Ruhle that was aired on Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Deadline: White House,” 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris responded to a question on  her stance on tariffs by stating that “one must be serious and have a plan and a real plan” and 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump is unserious with his thinking on tariffs.

Ruhle asked, “Tariffs aren’t unique to President Trump. President Biden has tariffs in place. He’s actually looking to potentially implement more. Where do you come out on, is there a good tariff, a bad tariff?”

Harris answered, “Well, part of it is you don’t just throw around the idea of just tariffs across the board. And that’s part of the problem with Donald Trump. I, frankly, I’m going to — and I say this in all sincerity, he’s just not very serious about how he thinks about some of these issues. And one must be serious and have a plan and a real plan that’s not just about some talking point ending in an exclamation at a political rally, but actually putting the thought into what will be the return on the investment, what will be the economic impact on everyday people?”

Harris slams Trump over tariffs during MSNBC interview: ‘Not very serious’
By
Mabinty Quarshie

.

Vice President Kamala Harris attacked former President Donald Trump‘s embrace of massive tariffs on corporations that move their business out of the U.S. during an interview with MSNBC‘s Stephanie Ruhle Wednesday afternoon.

“Well part of it is you don’t just throw around the idea of just tariffs, across the board, and that’s part of the problem with Donald Trump,” Harris said in an excerpt that was shared before the interview aired on television.

“I say this in all sincerity, he’s just not very serious about how he thinks about some of these issues,” Harris continued. “And one must be serious and have a plan, any real plan, that’s not just about some talking point ending in an exclamation at a political rally. But actually putting the thought into what will be the return on the investment, what will be the economic impact on everyday people.”

At multiple rallies this week Trump has claimed he will place either a 100% or 200% tariff on corporations that leave the nation but economists have claimed that could lead to inflation, causing higher costs for consumers.

Harris delivered a speech outlining her proposals to grow the middle class at the Economic Club of Pittsburgh in the Keystone State earlier Wednesday afternoon as she seeks to close the polling gap with Trump over whom voters trust best to handle the economy.

Right out of the gate, Kamala's first sentence goes right to "dreams, ambitions, aspirations."

Under 90 seconds in, we got the "I was raised in a middle class family."

Under 2 minutes in, another "dreams, ambitions, aspirations.

***Four times*** in the span of two minutes, Kamala repeats the phrase "pay their fair share."

Ruhle, as expected, isn't remotely making an effort to ask anything challenging and is allowing the candidate to filibuster through a stream of consciousness.

"Investing in new industries" is something she keeps repeating but isn't defining in any clear way what that means.

Ruhle doesn't bother asking for a clarification, but only says that unions have been big winners during Biden-Harris.

This interview exists in another galaxy.

MSNBC's Stephanie Ruhle calls out Harris for dodging how she'd raise taxes: 'She doesn't answer the question'
The liberal host previously defended the VP for avoiding policy questions
By Joseph A. Wulfsohn Fox News

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle called out Vice President Kamala Harris for not answering her question on how she plans to raise taxes with what would likely be a divided government.

In a preview clip of her interview with the Democratic nominee that aired Wednesday, Ruhle pressed where Harris would "get the money" to fund her pricey economic proposals if Republicans on Capitol Hill block her efforts to raise the corporate tax rate.

"Do you still go forward with those plans and borrow?" Ruhle asked.

"But we're gonna have to raise corporate taxes," Harris responded. "We’re going to have to make sure that the biggest corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. That’s just it. It’s about paying their fair share."

Harris Dodges on Difference Between ‘Price Gouging’ Plan, Price Controls

During an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris responded to a question on how she would implement her plan to ban “price gouging” without doing price controls by stating that “I am never  going to apologize for going after companies and corporations that take advantage of the desperation of the American people.”

MSNBC host and NBC Senior Business Analyst Stephanie Ruhle asked, “[A] serious problem over the last few years has been inflation. Luckily, it’s cooling, but prices are still high. You said you want to take this on by going after those who engage in price gouging. But as somebody who supports free markets, who’s a capitalist, how do you go after price gouging without implementing price controls? Because once we get in the zone, people start to get worried and they say, I don’t know what she stands for.”

Harris responded, “So, just to be very frank, I am never going to apologize for going after companies and corporations that take advantage of the desperation of the American people. And I — as attorney general, I saw this happen, in the midst of an emergency, whether it be an extreme weather event or even the pandemic we saw it, where those few companies — not the majority, not most — but those few companies that would take advantage of the desperation of people and jack up prices. Yeah, I’m going to go after them. Yes, I’m going to go after them. And that is part of a much more comprehensive plan on what we can do to bring down the cost of living, including housing, including the everyday needs of the American people.”
