During a May 2007 presser in support of gun storage requirements, then-San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris stressed that being a legal gun owner does not bar police from searching your home.

FOX News quoted Harris speaking at the presser. “…just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home,” she said, “doesn’t mean that we’re not going to walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible and safe in the way you conduct your affairs.”

She also said:

    The people who are gonna oppose, mostly, what we’re doing is the NRA. And they are not African-Americans and people who live in this community and are traumatized by violence every day. It’s people who own guns who are quietly sitting on those guns, and those guns might end up being the weapons of the destruction of a community, ’cause they get in the hands of some kid who decides that they like what they see on television and they wanna act that way.”

Well, this got my dander up. Although I doubt the local police would do this it still makes me angry that it is even being said.

I don't use the "F" bomb but I might be enticed to extend an upright middle finger if such an event were to occur.

As San Francisco's district attorney, Kamala Harris told legal gun owners in her community that authorities could "walk into" their homes to inspect whether they were storing their firearms properly under a new law she helped draft.

"We're going to require responsible behaviors among everybody in the community, and just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn't mean that we're not going to walk into that home and check to see if you're being responsible and safe in the way you conduct your affairs," Harris told a group of reporters in May 2007.

The remarks came during a press conference introducing legislation that Harris helped draft, which sought to impose penalties for gun owners who fail to store their firearms properly at home.

Just because you think your home is your home, and your sanctuary, that does not mean that we will not do armed raids your home as we please, to make sure you are "safe".

There's a quaint portion of the Constitution called the 4th Amendment. Go get a warrant, and then you can come in. But I want to see and read the warrant before you pass the plane of my doorway. (Otherwise, nothing you might 'find' is worth squat as evidence because it is an illegal search. And then I'm gonna find some greedy sleazebag lawyer and sue the britches off of you.
