We ate Boar's Head meats and cheeses for years.  There's no way I'd buy their products now; especially since it has been 'rumored' that most of their employees are ILLEGALS! I won't ever buy their products again as they were grossly negligent in cleanliness. People died. The stories of the facility in VA that I read were unbelievable; blood on the floors and meat speckles on the walls...that's just plain filth and how they got away with those practices for so long is amazing.  Where was the FDA???? Aren't they supposed to be inspecting food facilities??

Boar's Head on Friday announced that it is "indefinitely" closing the Virginia manufacturing plant that's been linked to the deadly listeria outbreak.

"Given the seriousness of the outbreak, and the fact that it originated at Jarratt, we have made the difficult decision to indefinitely close this location," which was shut down in late July, the company said.

The company's Jarratt facility was linked to the meats sliced at deli counters, including Boar's Head brand liverwurst, that caused the biggest listeria outbreak since 2011, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As of Aug. 8, 57 people were infected with the listeria outbreak strain from 18 states, all of whom have been hospitalized. Nine people have died — one in Illinois, one in New Jersey, one in Virginia, one in Florida, one in Tennessee, one in New Mexico, one in New York and two in South Carolina, according to the CDC's latest update................

Wow, there must have been some serious infrastructure issues with the processing site, if regular decon, and sterilization didn't do the trick.  I had a problem waaaay back with the state at a small municipality  having a potable water problem that shock chlorination and flushing  just wouldn't fix.

Come to find out that the land around their well had fissures, and leaking sewage piping.  They had to abandon the weill, and drill another about a 1/4 of a mile away.  All due to ancient piping, equipment, and lack of maintenance.

$10 says this problem is probably similar. And I'd guess the building is >50 years old.

I don't wish to burst your bubble, but virtually almost all food plants in the USA are staffed with illegals.  They come here, get counterfeit documents, and then get jobs.  Companies use these external hiring companies to do the screening so they can claim they are not hiring illegals.  It is common practice in the USA.  All these illegals are flooding across the border and displacing blue colar workers.  The use of the H1-b Visa Program is displacing white collar workers.

There is a concerted effort to eliminated USA citizens from the workforce.  This is why I harp on it as I do, because Trump promised to end the H1-b Visa Program DAY ONE of his 1st term, but he met with the tech billionaire oligarchs and actually increased the numbers a few months into his presidency.

Despite having federal laws against hiring low cost foreigners for jobs here, the laws are ignored.  1.6 million white collar workers, almost all from India have displaced US citizens, and many millions have displaced blue collar workers.

I did a consulting project in California at a pie plant years ago.  There were roughly 380 employees, 350+ were illegals in the plant.  That is common across the USA in food plants.  They get paid less, and in many cases, no benefits. 

Fact is, no one represents the American people any longer.  NO ONE!!!  Trump's rhetoric gave hope to people like myself, but his rhetoric ended up being empty lies.  Again, no one gives a damn about US citizens any longer in this nation.  It is not a mystery why we have fallen as far as we have.
