On Thursday, a small group of people gathered in support of Israel during a tense protest when a pro-Hamas demonstrator began arguing with them. What started as a verbal dispute quickly escalated. For reasons still under investigation, the pro-Hamas individual decided to charge across a busy street and tackle Scott Hayes, identified by his blue shirt. A scuffle involving several people ensued, and during this chaotic altercation, Hayes allegedly shot the man.
While the shooting itself isn’t clear in the video, the aftermath is unmistakable: the pro-Hamas demonstrator is left significantly injured. Hayes claims the gun went off during the struggle, but questions remain about whether this was an act of self-defense or something else.
