'They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and that has to stop'

Kamala Harris, the Democrat nominee for president, is now going to war with billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, saying "he has lost his privileges" and that his free-speech X site, formerly Twitter, "should be taken down."

In an interview with CNN's Jake Tapper, Harris said of Musk and X: "He has lost his privileges and it should be taken down."

The statement is noteworthy because the X platform was essentially banned over the Labor Day weekend in Brazil.

Harris continued: "The bottom line is that you can't say you have one rule for Facebook and you have a different rule for Twitter. The same rule has to apply, which is that there has to be a responsibility that is placed in these social media sites to understand their power.

"They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation and that has to stop."

Kamala Harris says @elonmusk  has lost his ‘privileges’ to free speech and it ‘should be taken down’.

This is dangerous rhetoric. Free speech is a right, not a privilege.

Free speech is not a privilege. It is a right. Sit down and shut up, ho.
The abnormal is not the normal just because it is prevalent.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I figured she was not a "Constitutional Scholar" on the Obama level, but somewhere in there as a prosecutor, perhaps she'd read the first 5 Amendments of the Bill of Rights, up to the right to not self-incriminate (which many Democrats have found handy).

Right there in Number one is the Right to free speech. The internet might seem crowded, but it's no theater, and you can yell fire all you want and others are free to disagree. Don't always have to like it, but that's how it works.

I think we need to get back to I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

It is the arrogance with which she says it that bothers me. She just assumes she has the power to violate whatever constitutional rights she wants. Put this together with her statements on executive orders to confiscate guns, and I think we have a pretty clear picture of someone who does not regard the constitution as a limitation to her power.

You are absolutely correct.  She has NO regard for the Constitution nor acknowledges any limitations of the power of the executive branch.  That ignorance combined with her disregard for America exemplifies that she is anti-America.  She views herself as a woman of color that has the authority and power to do anything.  God forbid if she becomes president, who is going to hold her back?? Who would be able to hold her accountable?  Likely no one and she knows it.  She has learned well from Obammy.  Ignore the rule of law, because first and foremost the race card can be played AND with a corrupt DOJ there will be no accountability. The current DOJ is corrupt and Garland IIRC has refused to turn over evidence that has been requested by the GOP. Just like Holder.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

The description, "They are directly speaking to millions and millions of people without any level of oversight or regulation,"  applies just as well to the news departments of every broadcaster and to Hollywood as it does to posters on social media.  And it describes the way it should be, per the First Amendment to the Constitution.
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

She needs to be specific.  Outline a bill to regulate speech on these platforms, and between now and Nov we can debate whether the 1st amendment is worth keeping.

Not insane, a true believing, hard core commie.
This should help remove the veil from some peoples eyes...

Doubtful that it's not something that they don't already see, it's just that in their mind they can still justify voting for her.

I don't think so either. And, as sad as it is, I hazard to guess that most joyful people that will vote for her know jack squat about the Constitution.

Until it affects them personally.

Well, on 'X', anyway. You'd be censored on the rest.

Definitely seeing her Communist wannabe totalitarian side, here, as well as her already well demonstrated disregard for the Rule of Law, up to and including our Constitution.
Only the fools who think they'll never look down the business end of that would support her.
