Did Kamala Harris ever work at McDonald's and if so, did the job help her "put herself through college?" Those might not seem like important questions on the surface, but when you consider the Democrat presidential nominee has been using the claim to fluff her supposedly hard-knock background, the truth of the matter becomes just a bit more relevant.

That's especially true given Harris' running mate, Tim Walz, has been caught in a litany of lies, including stealing valor about carrying weapons in war. Here's how the Harris campaign has been describing the supposed stint at McDonald's.

    Early this month, Harris’s campaign said she used her McDonald’s wages to pay for college. "Vice President Harris is the daughter of a working mother and worked at a McDonald’s to put herself through college," campaign spokeswoman Lauren Hitt said this month. A pro-Harris super PAC ad said she "work[ed] her way through school at McDonald’s." And former president Bill Clinton, at the Democratic National Convention, joked that "she’ll break my record as president who has spent the most time at McDonald’s."

According to Harris, she "did fries" before moving over to work as a cashier, and that's just the first part of the tale that doesn't necessarily add up. The behind-the-counter dynamic at McDonald's doesn't typically have a specific person only cooking fries. With that said, it's at least possible she labored at a unique McDonald's that had her only cooking fries before moving over to be a cashier.

What job did her mother have?

The phrase elicits images of a mom who did manual labor...(as, no doubt, intended)

The reality is somewhat different.

Mom was a cancer researcher and 'civil rights activist', not some one employed as a factory worker, waitress, or domestic.

Some of the dumb arguments being made down here is that Kamala didn't put McDonald's on her resume. That's fair. But one would think it would have made it into books or biographies on her considering she broaches it during every campaign stop.

Seems to me it would be easy for Harris to prove her assertions, just release her tax return for the year she claims she worked at MickeyD’s. She probably knows that no employer has any records going back that far so felt safe to spin another lie thinking no one would question it.

By some estimates, nearly one in seven Americans have flipped burgers or managed the drive-through window at McDonald’s during their career. Vice President Kamala Harris counts herself among them, but a batch of new public records say otherwise.

Since launching her 2019 presidential campaign, the Democrat has often mentioned that working for the world’s most recognizable fast food brand was her first job after her freshman year in college. “I did fries,” she recently admitted on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” adding, “and then I did the cashier.” The Washington Free Beacon scoured Harris’s past public statements on her work history and pinpointed the first time she mentioned a summer job at McDonald’s during a labor rally in Las Vegas that year. “I was working in a McDonald’s,” she told the enthusiastic crowd. Mainstream media outlets like the New York Times dutifully reported, without attributino, that Harris “return[ed] to the Bay Area for a summer during college when she worked at a McDonald’s in Alameda, a city next to Oakland.”

Omitting it in an early job-application in which she was trying to present herself as cultured and worldly is not much evidence -- it's as likely the omission there was a lie as mentioning it later is.  But, once she entered politics as a left-leaning Democrat, working-class bona fides should have shown up immediately, not suddenly be "remembered" once she's vying for the Presidency.  I think they have her on this one.

Anyone who flips burgers has a risk of getting burned by something.

I had a nice checkerboard square on my forearm from a hot fry basket that came into contact with it.  Ran it under cold water and slathered some beef tallow on it, and finished my shift.  No work, no pay, no money.

I never served in the military, but I did serve under the Golden Arches at McDonald’s. Kamala Harris apparently did neither, based on the available evidence, and her recent claims to be a fry cook in college seem to be the fast-food version of stolen valor.

You would think a socialist senator who worked at McDonald’s would make her fast-food experience a defining episode in her political memoir, not to mention a staple of her multiple campaigns in California’s Bay Area. But her stint as a minimum-wage cashier representing the American franchise wasn’t mentioned until she first ran for president in 2019, and the story was absent from both of her memoirs, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

“McDonald’s boasts that one in eight Americans has worked at the fast food chain, and Harris, whose campaign is light on policy and heavy on image, has been using her fast food job to portray what the Washington Post, in a credulous piece this month on the Harris-McDonald’s connection, described as ‘her humble background,'” the Beacon reported. “For decades,” however, “Harris never mentioned it, not on the campaign trail nor in two books. It’s absent from a job application and résumé she submitted a year after she graduated from college.” Even “third-party biographers did not write about it.”

The first mention of her alleged time as a McDonald’s employee came in 2019, when she told a labor rally in Las Vegas she “was a student when I was working in a McDonald’s,” according to the Free Beacon. After the Harris campaign was asked about the details of her early résumé, the Beacon reported, aides changed her story in a statement to Politico, claiming she took a “summer job” to earn extra cash, not to pay for school.  ...
