Translation: never a conservative, not even close.

If I had the time or energy, I'd post everyone of his hilarous lies.  The left wing talking points almost looked canned.

GTH...  From oil, to EV's, to climate change, to QE in the late '00's.  You have been a living breathing lying machine.  All anyone has to do, is peruse the shit you posted April and May of this year to get an idea. Proof enough bud, without wasting my time.

lol....  Trollz gotta be trollz.   Do you have your ready supply of links from MSN. The Hill, and the Guardian links to spread your bullshit?

Biggest lie of all?  Claiming to be a former conservative.

You think everyone who does not follow your own narrow definition of a conservative is liberal.  53% of conservatives  now believe that man has some part in climate change and that figure is growing each year. Majority of conservatives had the vaccine but based upon the anti vaccine loud shrill contingent of the conservative movement if you are for the vaccines you are  a liberal. I could go on and on.

Trump wants Nanny Government to pay for IVF.  That ain't con$ervative.

And he wants to mandate insurance companies to pay for it, also. This was one of our big oppositions to Obamacare. It forced insurance companies to cover things that people didn’t need like maternity care for 70-year-olds.

But I noticed a deafening silence here on this issue. This is the problem of Trump getting back in the White House. We would have to fight his supporters over stupid ideas like this

You don’t believe that government should be telling what services a private business should supply? You’re a liberal

You have trouble with another eight to $10 trillion added onto the debt? You’re never Trumper liberal

You oppose trade protectionism? You’re a leftist

Like the free market?  You hate Trump

It would be a four year war of conservatives vs MAGAs. We have enough of our work cut out for us fighting just the left. MAGAs joining them makes the task much more impossible

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Ain't that the kicker, I like a lot of the folks here at TBR.... good folks... we just disagree on a lot of things because Trump gets in the way. Ain't no politician perfect of course, but often Trump is so off the mark with my positions that it is hard to stay silent. Here lately it is getting harder to find something I agree with him with that isn't so generic watered down that it hardly stands as a position etched in conservatism.

I didn't like that either.  I'd just like to see more arguments, on the merits. Problem is, it seems impossible to get a handle on threads about Trump.  They always turn into fistfights.

@Bigun
I read counterviews as long as I can stand it. Most are pure BS.
What I have a really low threshold for are lies intended to deceive so bad policy can be emplaced.

Those are all over the media, and I saw some just this morning in a purported documentary. The filmmaker alleged that ultimately, fraccing provided the moivation for a triple murder. After pointing out fraccing is common in  the area of Williston, ND, it was heavily implied that (after showing a faucet being lit) fraccing may have been the cause of a kitchen fire that claimed the life of the killer's child (there are lots of ways to burn down a kitchen, none of which involve fraccing).

Only the water in Williston and surroundings, via Rural Water, is taken from the Missouri River, and by the time it is processed, has zero natural gas in it. As a geologist, I know of no local water wells which have natural gas in them, either. So an interesting film about a constitutional loophole in a murder case became an anti-fraccing screed. It just pissed me off. (What's worse, is that if the killer believed fraccing was the cause of all his problems, three young men were murdered to 'get even' with the wrong people, likely because of the similar propaganda spewed by the ignorant to push their agendas.)

I have no doubt that if Biden did what Trump did, the outrage here would be unanimous

And this is a window of what a Trump second term would look like. His sycophants defending every dumb move he makes and insisting others keep quiet about them because…..But Democrats

No thanks. I’ll take my chances with a President Harris were at least there will be unity here when it comes to condemning her stupid acts, proposals,  and statements

To the subject of the original OP:

It is said that Trump isn't a politician. Of course he is. So since I think all politicians lie to get elected I include him.

However, I'll lay some blame on the voters. In the immortal words of Mad Jack...."You (we) can't handle the truth".  Not to include the very intelligent posters on this board. There was a pol running for president (too lazy to look his name up) that came out and said taxes would be raised. He lost.

I didn't say I supported Harris. Stop twisting my words. However, dead silence from his supporters here over Trump's big government IVF plan as a perfect example of what I'm talking about.  I guarantee there would be universal   outrage here if Harris proposed this. And this is a taste of a Trump second term. Too many of his supporters are afraid to call out his stupid ideas and behaviors as they are paralyzed by loyalty to him. That wouldn't happen with a Harris administration

The choice is Harris or Harris lite. That's how I see it.

Keep your head in the sand. People are wary of "you  must have 100% loyalty to Trump". stance and nothing else. People are worried  .  .  .

@banddag

The fact that you are only discovering this now after nine years tells me that you really don't know any Conservatives.  So when you talk about reading "other sources you will find many conservatives are starting to leave Trump in droves", I can only assume you meant DU and DailyKos.  Because if you actually read Conservative sources, you would already know what Conservatives think about Trump.

It has been an open book for nine years now.  Yet you are just now seeing it?  You expose yourself.

Normally, I would say 'stick around.  You might learn something.'   But nine years?  It tells me that you aren't teachable.

btw, you never did explain why you support government handing out massive corporate welfare for Chinese battery makers while giving the shaft to small scale composite tank makers.  But then that would require critical thought on your part - something you were clearly born without.

Your words speak for themselves. I'm not some Trump worshiper. I'm not happy with our choices.

But Kamala is definitely not a choice as far as I am concerned, and I am all for keeping her out of the White House. Just Trump's energy policies alone stand in stark and necessary contrast to the Green New Deal and electric car mandates.

Trump got 12% of the Bernie voters in 2016. I think he believes his leftward shift will pull them in again

Not with Harris/Walz it won't. Democrats are to this ticket like we would be with a Reagan/Coolidge ticket

DeSantis isn't in this election. Harris and Trump are. You may as well scream at the sky until blood blasts out of your throat you will not change this fact.

Oh I know I ain't gonna change the fact. The fact is that I have no dog in this hunt.

Quote
That said your choices are:

*Vote for Harris
*Vote for Trump
*Don't vote and you'll most likely improve the value of a Democrat vote in your state.

I'm already declared - I will not vote the top of the ticket.
I will not support big government on the Right. EVER.
I ain't buying what you're selling.

As to the middle of the ticket, I will look for and support conservatives, and only conservatives... Because that is what I am here for.

Not to support phony-baloney parties and candidates that are the exact opposite of what I want.

Quote
Your choices also include:

*Continue shitting on Trump in this topic and in this forum when he's the GOP nominee and in doing so you are absolutely campaigning for Harris against Trump. You are and I refuse to accuse you of being so damned stupid that you believe otherwise.

Oh bullshit. Flack from me is well deserved. This is a Conservative forum, and I will stand on Conservatism, like I always have. You want my vote... You want my support... Try lifting up a Conservative next time.

Until then, I will remain in opposition. And I will stand up and yell about it.

If you don't want me to cuss your candidate as a proven liar, then next time, don't lift up such a scurrilous candidate.

Quote

*Be hateful enough against Trump that you decide to reregister D and then openly campaign for Harris because the Orange Man is eeeeebil.

LOL! It don't matter, Democrat or MAGA. It's all the same big government y'all have aligned yourselves to...
Let the chips fall where they may.

And the more there are like you and me, the more likely next time they will be shopping for that Conservative vote. So I will stand with you, and my few fellows hereon - And consider myself in good company.

Obama promised to raise taxes in 2008.  He won.  Biden did the same in 2020.  He also won.

Back in the days of Walter Mondale, any promise of raising taxes spelled defeat to any Democrat.  But since 2008, Republicans have been letting Democrats choose their candidates for them.  So a Democrat can get away with it when John McCain or Donald Trump is your opponent.

Yes.  The Taxpayers are now a slave class to those who do not pay taxes.  Those who do not (the majority) will vote in any and every tax increase or spending increase that comes their way.

Interesting that you can see his lies so clearly, and yet sanction the LIES that the Democrats are spewing about everything and everyone.

Oh bullshit. What's the takeaway supposed to be from that? Democrat lies are worse than Tumpy lies? Democrat lies make Tumpy's lies OK? We must take the fact that he lies off the table because the Democrats lie too, so you get a liar either way?

I agree with many of the statements put forth in the editorial about Trump.

I don't know if Trump "lies", but he sure is hyperbolic with everything.  Lots of "untruths", for sure.

Best economy ever; EVER.  Worst president ever; EVER.  I had the best growth in 4 years ANYONE ever had!  Cut most regulations ever!  I'm more loved than Lincoln or Washington likely!

All untrue, pretty provably.  Even the Lincoln thing pretty provable.

I despise Trump's untruths (hyperbole tied up in his ego) as well as so much of what he says to insult and stir the pot, and not crazy about alot of his apparent beliefs and policies, or what he did.

I'll vote for him, but I am not an enthusiast at all.  About as much or worse(!) than Bush/McCain/Romney/Dole....still feel like I'm holding my nose.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue.

My friend, it isn't the Democrats' lies that are the scary part. We know they lie, and I can't say I am happy about lies from either side.

The thing I find unacceptable is when Democrats tell the truth about their plans for this country.

Those plans will finish what Obama started. A 'fundamental transformation' from a Republic to a totalitarian State. They do not acknowledge the SCOTUS and keep trying crap even when it has been ruled against, they leave the border open, they would make a drunken sailor blush the way they go through money, they want to cripple our energy industry (and have gone a long way toward that, by edict, not legislation, they are for every imaginable perversion including the mutilation of children without parental consent, they are for killing babies not jut in the womb, but at full term and even beyond.
Sorry, but I am morally obligated to oppose that as best I can.
The options suck,  none are Conservative, just back to lesser evil, but the lesser evil is considerable less evil than the greater one, and there is a chance, at least that progress will be made in the right direction, as opposed to the wrong one.
There's a lot of hype flying around out there, on both sides, but one side is exaggerating a bit, and the other is telling outright lies to cover their plans.
You do you. I respect that.
I have been there.
You aren't favoring either, because neither comes up to your standards.
But this is one hoedown I just can't be a wallflower for.
God used David who wasn't perfect, too. The other side doesn't want Him mentioned, and Walz even made it hard for a Christian to get a job as a teacher by signing off on some of the most anti-christian legislation ever.

@banddag

You expose yourself.

btw, you never did explain why you support government handing out massive corporate welfare for Chinese battery makers while giving the shaft to small scale composite tank makers.  But then that would require critical thought on your part - something you were clearly born without.

1. Never trumpers/people leaving Trump has always been around but not like as of this year.   For instance, I have noticed this year on FR  numerous people, many posters, a growing amount openly speaking out against Trump and not being zotted. This would never have happened 2-3-4 years ago.  It would have been an automatic zot. Why is that? JR has been good at picking trends. He knows the tide is turning against trump. I do have to give him that credit.

Numerous articles on the  net this year talking about the growing numbers of people leaving maga/Trump. Google is your friend.

Show me any GOP nominee for president that has so many gov't officials against him. And don't give me that deep state crap. Many of these are his ex cabinet officials he put into office.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Republicans_who_oppose_the_Donald_Trump_2024_presidential_campaign

2. Show me  the post  where I said  I support the US govt' helping Chinese battery makers. I detest the chinese. I was on FR back in the Bush days when conservatives on FR was loving free trade with China and I was bashed back then. Back when Limbaugh and Hannity openly praised our trade with China and so did most conservatives.

I DID SAY  we need to subsidize our homegrown EV co's because other countries such as China, S Korea, Vietnam are HEAVILY subsidizing their own EV companies putting our ev co's at a disadvantage.

Show me the post.

You know I am not a Trump fan, but I am fearful of a Kamel-uh admin taxing unrealized capital gains.

The unrealized cg plan is for high worth individuals with $100 million net worth plus who pay little or no income taxes.

40-50% of the American people cannot come up with $1000 cash for an emergency. 60-70% going paycheck to paycheck. SS is going broke, 29% of 62 year olds have zero retirement savings and the rest do not have enough.  Just disclosed several weeks ago 1/2 the US workers have stopped funding their 401k or cut back what they pay into it drastically or taking out loans against it.

If granny had to pay capital gains on her house or the middle class on their meager 401k it would destroy the housing industry, wall street, banking industry. It would be political suicide for any politician to vote it in and would probably lead to armed revolt. The CoC, banking industry, housing industry and Wall Street would never allow it to pass. The only thing that may pass is a small increase on corporate profits and it will probably be negotiated with numerous caveats.

Fear porn and misinformation has gripped conservatives. I do not like Harris. I wanted DeSantis but this fear mongering and misinformation is out of control.

@banddag @roamer_1 @LMAO

I'm not out to persuade you one way or another. I used to vote for the candidate that would take this country forward in a more conservative direction.  We don't have that option this time around and I truly, deeply fear that this will be the last election for this country; at least for the GOP, due to changing demographics and stolen elections.  Both very troubling, but it's been that way for awhile.

Right now it's not even a matter of voting for the most conservative candidate; arguments obviously can be made that Trump is not a fiscal conservative.  That's a no brainer.  However, it is equally obvious that Trump is pro-America and pro-Christian and Harris is anti-American and anti-Christian.

I'll take the pro-American and pro-Christian any day; our country was founded upon Christian beliefs and principles.

That vote choice however is an individual one. For me it is a very simple choice.  :patriot: :patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

Peace.

For posters who might be wondering what this means, it comes from a post I made that, due to the current condition of the Republican Party of conservatives vs MAGAs, I would take my chances with the Harris presidency where at least there would be some semblance of unity against her progressive push amongst the GOP vs a Trump presidency were loyalty to Trump  would be demanded by his supporters from the GOP or risk a primary challenge. We saw this during his presidency with Covid. I never said that Harris would be good for the country.

Evidently, that sent this particular poster into such emotional convulsions that he follows me from thread to thread posting this….lol

I’m actually finding it quite amusing. And telling. Because he unwittingly keeps making my point in doing such. happy77

The large corporations, bankers, Wall street control the politicians. It does not really matter what they say. Trump if elected will not deport millions of people. He is already back peddling on that promise.

I remember when Biden said he was going to destroy the oil and gas industry yet record oil and gas production under his presidency. The highest amount in our nations history.

I remember well Limbaugh saying the Clintons were communist and would destroy the economy and lead to another depression. Yet the 1990's  was one of the greatest economic times in our history. Yeah yeah we had a republican House and Senate but still.

I would take Bill Clinton back (minus Hillary) over Harris and Trump any day.
