The presidency is somewhat unique in that rhetoric plays an outsized role in that person's legacy. What he says is an important part of his job. People tell me that Barack Obama was a successful president because 12 million jobs were created, the stock market doubled, and everyone has access to health insurance. His legacy is divisive in large measure due to the intangibles. Obama is the guy who said

If you've got a business, you didn't build that.
I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody.
The Cambridge police acted stupidly.
It's not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon.

... along with various lies about his policies. Sometimes his mouth got him in trouble with policy ... for example, sucking up to Medvedev when he thought nobody was listening. In terms of personality, the man came across as a mediocre academic with a chip on his shoulder, and it caused him to lose political power over the course of his presidency.

On the other hand, Reagan used his rhetorical skill to shift public opinion in favor of his policies. He would never have gotten a tax cut if he sought to publicly embarrass Tip O'Neill. Would Republicans hearken back to his presidency if he were a philandering oaf with a 50 word vocabulary? Not if they were trying to convince anyone to come to their side.

But then, you probably understand why I won't grant Tumpy a mandate either - Though he will claim it if he wins anyway.

As to damage... I think the damage is being done to the Conservative Coalition - With fiscal conservatives and libertarian conservatives being unceremoniously thrown under the bus - So much for the TEA Party. That will take decades to rebuild.

I don't care at all what the other side does - I have no influence or control over that.
But I DO care how our side conducts itself - And what we all said we stand upon.

That is far, far away. I will not go with you. I will be under the bus with my brethren.

EVERY decision they make is going to displease someone.
You can't make all the people happy all the time.

But what I want is someone who will at least put the brakes on the destructive policies (and they are going down many tracks at once, it isn't a unified vehicle of state, more like a loose fleet of ships, so some policies will turn faster and better than others) and push policy that will more likely return the country to the original vision of the Founders (a Republic,with strong states and a relatively--to what we have now--weak and limited Federal Government with limited duties and powers.) weak not from the stance of international relations, but for domestic affairs.
Roe being overturned was a step in the right direction. The States should make those rules, not the Feds.

Looking at what we have (Trump vs Kamala), while neither is perfect, the choice is obvious to me, IF for no other reason than the policy of the Biden/Harris Administration is unsustainable, not just fiscally, but in every sense.

We've seen the test drive results. Four trillion new debt under Trump, 8 trillion under Biden, and Kamala isn't about to slow down. At the same time, Biden/Harris decreed policies that made it even harder for industry and individuals to function, making the impact even more severe, and critically, causing inflation when the cause was obvious, and not wholly on a basis of having printed more money than ever done before.
Energy policy is the key to recovery, and Biden/Harris went in exactly the wrong direction, and what's more, spent OUR money (that we don't have) on subsidies to buy more bad policy.
It will take more than one presidential term to recover from that.

Trump loves this country! Unlike his selected opponent.

He is expected to hold a news conference shortly, formally announcing the endorsement.

RFK Jr.'s poll numbers have been dropping since Kamel became the nominee and not Joe. Whether or not this will give Trump the boost he needs I'm not so sure.

Trump needs to recapture the Black voters that he had and he made a huge mistake in not selecting a Black VP.

He's not my ideal - far from it.

In reality - Trump will at least try to close our borders and open up our sources of energy, while frustrating globalist ambitions.

But please, for our country's sake - consider the nightmare of the alternative, and it is not merely a nightmare - Harris will make it a reality, I promise you.

Every American should watch RFK Jr speech. I haven’t heard a more powerful, thorough, and convincing eulogy of America’s greatness and descent into banana republic style territory than this. He is absolutely eviscerating the Biden regime, DNC, news media, and Big Tech detailing the serious threat they pose to our way of life and Constitutional rights.

There was a time when both Republicans AND Democrats could legitimately claim to love the USA, its citizens and its Constitution, it's just that the two parties differed in their methods for protecting and improving those things.

That time is long past. The Democrat Party has become an obscene mix of Marxist economics and a fascist hatred of personal liberty and the Constitution. RFK Jr. speaks to a past when there were good, moral people who were Democrats. That time is no more, I am sad to say. Maybe if Trump wins he can team with RFK and we can figure out a way to restore a two-party system where both parties love the USA.

That, to me, was the best thing I've seen so far. Slapped both the Dems and the complicit media...hard...and they had to carry it.

Is he a bubble off level? On most things. But I couldn't argue with a single thing he said about the Dems and media.
