I was just saying that Trump doing nothing was IMO, hyperbole. He made some real gains. Your other point is something I agree with, yes maybe another GOP would have given us the same, it's hard to say. Trump flipped states in 2016 that, at the time, I thought were permanently in Dem hands. On the other hand, in his 4 years of actual governance I think another candidate would've brought more people into our tent. It's Trump's style IMO and you either love it or hate it, and most people hated it. Reagan was warm, humorous, optimistic, grandfatherly, likable. See the difference?
Yes I do. And I readily admit to some wee gain. It is that the gain is paltry by comparison.
I often liken it to being satisfied by the candy thrown by the clown at the front of the parade - Tastes so good, but gone in half an hour. That is not sustenance. Far from it.
But for the moment, whether what little sustenance, the point of departure is the satisfaction.
That's the thing. This satisfies you?
This little bit of gain under an avalanche of loss?
That's alright?
You want more of that?
I think the Republican electorate has been well trained to demand nothing and be happy with increment. Paltry gruel... and they have learned to like it.
Because the gain is incidental at best, and especially when measured against the insufferable losses in fiscal conservatism and libertarianism - suffered by the very same hand.
It is unconscionable to vote for more of that.
