Democrat Convention Shapes Up to Be Clash of Epic Proportions as Pro-Palestinian Protesters to Crash Harris-Walz Coronation

The Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago is shaping up to be a clash of epic proportions as potentially tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators are set to descend on the city to protest the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the Israel-Hamas War.

Before exiting the presidential race after all states had completed their nominating contests and earning the title of presumptive Democrat nominee, President Joe Biden’s reelection odds were greatly imperiled by anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian Democrats. Many of these voters feel betrayed by the administration’s handling of the war, specifically, the United States’ support of Israel.

Now that Biden has exited the race, Vice President Kamala Harris has inherited the very same problem after ascending to the top of the ticket. Now, with just days to the convention in Chicago, which was notably the site of the riot-packed 1968 Democrat Convention, anti-Harris pro-Palestinian protesters will take to the streets to protest her and Biden’s policies on the war.

Politico notably reported in April that protest organizers were expecting as many as 30,000 to demonstrate against the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the war. For reference, in 1968, which saw widespread riots and nearly 700 arrests, some 10,000 protesters were at the DNC Convention in Chicago, Time reported.

The coalition March on the DNC 2024 declares on its website that the ousting of “Genocide Joe Biden” from the top of the ticket “doesn’t change the policies of Democratic Party leadership, specifically their support of the genocide in Palestine, so our movement must continue to apply pressure.”

The coalition, which the Chicago Sun-Times notes encompasses more than 150 groups from around the country, will take to Union Park during the convention on August 19 and August 22,  according to its website.

Morgan Overton is a Pennsylvania delegate for Kamala Harris at next week's Democratic National Convention, a member of Democratic governor Josh Shapiro's advisory council for women, and a Planned Parenthood Western Pennsylvania board member. She's also a quiet supporter of a Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) ballot initiative that would cripple the city's Jewish organizations and punish its largest hospital system.

Overton, who said she is "so energized" to back Harris in Chicago, signed a petition that would trigger a BDS ballot measure come November, documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show. If passed, the measure would force the city of Pittsburgh—and all of its nonprofit entities—to cut ties with Israel or lose tax-exempt status and all public funding. Overton, who has been described as "besties" with Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, signed the petition on July 27, though she has not voiced public support for the measure.

Overton's decision to back the petition—she introduced herself as the vice chair of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee when signing it and told organizers to "keep up the good work," according to a witness—reflects the increasing overlap between the party's establishment and far-left flanks when it comes to the Jewish state and its war on Hamas. ...

Kacy McGill, a staffer for anti-Israel Rep. Summer Lee’s campaign and congressional office, has gathered signatures for the petition, according to documents obtained by the Free Beacon. Dozens of other public officials and Democratic party committee members have signed or circulated the petition.

That includes the staff of Pittsburgh city councilwoman Barb Warwick and four members of Mayor Ed Gainey’s administration. Allegheny County councilwoman Bethany Hallam and more than 70 members of the Allegheny County Democratic Committee have signed the petition. ...

Attendees at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago will have the opportunity to receive free vasectomies and abortions blocks away from the proceedings at the United Center.

Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, which operates in parts of Missouri and Illinois, will park its mobile health clinic near the DNC on Aug. 19 and Aug. 20, according to The New York Times. Medication abortions are reportedly available on both days, with vasectomies being exclusively offered Monday.

Roughly 100,000 far-left, Israel-hating protesters will be descending on Chicago this week, sowing chaos as Democratic leaders rally around their new presidential ticket.

At least seven large rallies and marches are set to take place in the Windy City while the McCormick Place Convention Center hosts Democratic National Convention, organizers said.

And other rallies are also expected even though their organizers have not scored necessary city permits.

The causes run the gamut of radical leftist causes, including backing Hamas terrorists and ending US aid to Israel.

The convention runs Monday through Thursday, but the protests begin Sunday with a march towards Grant Park organized by the pro-abortion, gay-rights organization Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws.

The biggest turnout is expected at “March on the DNC 2024” rallies slated for Monday and Thursday, organized by a coalition of 125 anti-Israel groups including the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network.

Over 30,000 are expected to attend the Monday march, according to multiple reports.

About 100K anti-Israel demonstrators expected in Chicago during DNC: reports

Approximately 100,000 anti-Israel demonstrators are expected to descend on Chicago during the four-day Democratic National Convention this week, according to the New York Post.

At least seven large rallies and marches are scheduled to unfold across Chicago this week as the McCormick Place Convention Center hosts DNC programming about the Harris-Walz ticket. Additional rallies are also planned, though they’re unsanctioned, meaning organizers have not obtained required city permits, the Post reported.

Photos showed some businesses boarded windows in anticipation of possible riots.

The DNC is planned for Monday to Thursday. But some demonstrations are starting Sunday. The group Bodies Outside of Unjust Laws organized a march toward Grant Park Sunday focused on “abortion rights, LGBTQ+ rights and stopping Israel’s war efforts in Gaza,” the Chicago Tribune reported.

Yet the largest number of expected protesters are expected Monday and Thursday at the “March on the DNC 2024” rallies, orchestrated by a coalition of 125 anti-Israel groups including the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression and the U.S. Palestinian Community Network. Multiple reports say more than 30,000 people are expected to attend Monday’s rally alone.

Hatem Abudayyeh, chair of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network, vowed to the Washington Post to still lead protests in Chicago during the DNC despite President Biden no longer being on the ticket. 

“We’re not changing a thing. Everything is still full steam ahead,” Abudayyeh said.

“It’s still about ending the genocide,” he added. “Our target is the Democratic Party and the leadership of the party and ‘Killer Kamala’ is one of them.”

At least three other anti-Israel events are happening in Chicago during the DNC. Among them is a march titled “Behind Enemy Lines” planned to start Tuesday in front of Chicago’s Israeli consulate, according to the Tribune. The group “Poor People’s Army,” which also demonstrated at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, organized another march in Chicago this week demanding the U.S. stop sending military aid to Israel.

Chicago saw bloody riots in 1968 while hosting the DNC during the Vietnam War.

The Chicago DNC Convention is on.  Comparisons to the last Chicago DNC Convention back in 1968 make Democrats nervous.  Convention-goers are being told not to use their real names when checking in for fear of being targeted.  Law enforcement assures Chicagoans and the country that they have everything under control.  They don’t.

Ferguson, Minneapolis, New York City, San Francisco, and almost every Democrat-controlled city are tinderboxes waiting for the match.  Whether the issue was BLM, organized theft, Hamas, or just plain wilding in the streets tangentially connected to Use of Force incidents by the police, the purveyors of violence know something you don’t: politicians and woke police leadership will not use necessary overwhelming force to quell violence and destruction and theft of property.  Riots and violence are on the way.

Any good excuse is enough to see Chicago go up in flames as first, the antisemitic pro-Hamas groups gin up disruptions, violence, and general mayhem, shortly followed by looting and arson from the locals who won’t miss an excellent opportunity to do what they do best…destroy and steal.  I don’t know for sure that this will happen, but I highly expect it.  And, if you are wondering if I’m racist, I’m not; I simply look at recent history for guidance.

If it does happen, what I expect is an almost ceremonial large turnout of law enforcement with orders to respect the rights of those protesting and to let the looting, arson, and violence play themselves out in contained areas.  This is the same logic and strategy used in past incidents of mass violence since the George Floyd era.

Chicago Mayor Reverses Course on City’s Denial of Stage, Sound System for DNC Anti-Israel Protests

Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson personally agreed to the demands of anti-Israel protest groups on Friday, allowing them to set up a stage and sound system for their planned demonstrations during the Democratic National Convention.

The City of Chicago previously denied those items and other accommodations to the Coalition to March on the DNC earlier in the week, prompting the anti-Israel group to file an injunction in federal court. In the emergency motion, Coalition activists alleged the city trampled on their First Amendment rights by restricting how their message of ending U.S. aid to Israel could be heard.
 
The mayor apparently empathized with their movement and overrode the city’s denial of protesters’ requests, the Chicago Tribune reported.

“We talked directly to the mayor,” said Hatem Abudayyeh, executive director of the Arab American Action Network. “We knew that he supported us, our coalition, and these protests and it’s proof positive that he called one of the top leaders of the coalition directly on his cellphone and said, ‘We’re gonna make this happen. I’m gonna make sure that everybody’s rights are protected.’”

Not sure how this will all pan out. Sure, stuff will likely be broken, buildings burned and looted, but there are fundamentally incompatible groups marching to different drummers (literally). It would be interesting to see the Rainbow/alphabet crew run up against the Islamists and vie for street space (someone would make book on that), but I'm betting the really 'important' areas (where the biggest campaign donors have interest) will get the best protection, and the gangs will cover their own turf if they aren't out foraging for 'homeless' accessories or cashing in providing concierge chemical locator services for the influx of visitors.

Chicago Democrats let anti-Israel protesters march, but block pro-Israel Jews during DNC

This week, citizens will gather in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention to voice their support for Israel and protest the abuses of Hamas.

However, this largely Jewish gathering will not be marching. Instead, they will gather on a small private lot blocks away from the convention as thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters march through the streets.
 
The reason is that Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson has refused to grant their request for a permit.

While pro-Palestinian protesters have been given an array of accommodations by the city (and received a shoutout from President Biden in his convention address), the Jewish protesters are only able to gather due to the donation of a private lot by an owner for their use.
