Trump shrugs off Republican pleas to stay on message

.

Republicans are pleading with former President Donald Trump to run a more disciplined campaign as time runs short for him to reclaim the momentum from Vice President Kamala Harris, but Trump appears not to be heeding their advice.

Trump has made Harris’s past embrace of the far Left the centerpiece of his pivot away from President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, his campaign has spent millions portraying her as the “border czar” who permitted record levels of illegal immigration.

But Republicans have implored Trump in increasingly public terms to stop muddling his message with incendiary and off-script comments that distract from their attempts to define Harris, seemingly to no avail.

For instance, Trump drove a dayslong news cycle earlier this month by falsely accusing Harris of faking her black identity, while his preoccupation with the crowds she is drawing has allies concerned he is not adjusting to the drastically different race. This week alone, he sat down for two hours with Elon Musk for an X Space interview before trying to prebut Harris’s economic address on Friday with his own policy speech, during which he mocked the need for “intellectual” remarks and the vice president for her laugh.

“You’re effectively drowning out your own best message,” said Scott Jennings, a Republican strategist and CNN contributor. “You could say the right thing, and you could know instinctively what you need to do, but if you bury it under things that are trivial or not germane to winning, and those things happen to be catnip for your enemies, you’re defeating yourself.”

Oh well, if loses, he better not blame voter fraud that has been conducted by the Deep State (which I'm a member of by the way).

lol….

Trump is not winning this election. Maybe it’s time for the Republican party to concentrate on House and Senate races and local races

I have a sense if the campaign continues on this path, and it more likely will, Republicans will have to come to that decision
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Donald is not interested in making substantive arguments.  We saw that yesterday, when he nearly put himself to sleep at the beginning of the press event.  His default setting is scorched earth demagoguery, extortion, and rambling about himself.  This is his personality.  He cannot turn it off.

Even if he managed to follow the advice of his campaign staff for a few hours, he would find the nearest ditch to drive into.  Nobody advised him to whine about Biden dropping out, claim he draws bigger crowds than MLK, or declare the Presidential Medal of Freedom to be "much better" than the Medal of Honor.

Every time he gives these press conferences or interviews, he gives the Harris campaign material

I was unaware of that and thought you must be joking, so I looked it up.  And yes, he actually said that.

What a complete and utter jackass.   It's truly astonishing that a man who already was President of the United States for 4 years is still so wildly ignorant of such basic facts about the government he wants to lead.

IMHO Trump greatest asset is his natural ability to be able to connect with people.  He is doing just that.  I don't believe he needs to follow what the GOPe wants him to do.

IF he should lose this election, it will be due to voter fraud and another stolen election, once again.

If does indeed lose, it's because he was being an a**hole. Not because of so called voter fraud. 🙄

He’s going to lose not only because of who he is, but because her base outnumbers his

If they come out in numbers like they did during the Obama regime, Trump gets the joy of spending the rest of his days in private life in Mar-a-Lago.

Maybe subconsciously that’s what he wants

At this point, staying on message doesn’t matter.  Inflation, crime, the border invasion, weakness abroad .. all are now perfect now that “Bright and shiny” has stepped in the stage.

He was ignorant about how our government works before he was elected, during his presidency and after his presidency, at no time has he made an effort to educate himself and that's why he spouts hairbained schemes  **nononono*

Well, he is a Democrat, so . . .
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

The fact that he connects so well with some people shouldn't blind us to the reality that he offends some others.

Why are you so certain that there can't be more voters who prefer Harris to Trump, and that Trump can only lose through fraud?   What is the objective evidence that more people will vote for him no matter what either of them say or do between now and the election?
