Iconic car company pushing technology to spy on drivers

American Military News by Timothy Frudd 8/14/2024

Ford Motor Company has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to obtain exclusive rights for a new technology that would expand police surveillance capabilities by including a device on cars that would spy on drivers and notify law enforcement if someone was speeding.

According to CBT News, Ford’s new surveillance effort, labeled “Systems and Methods for Detecting Speeding Violations,” would use sensors installed on future Ford vehicles to detect whether cars are speeding and to notify law enforcement of speeding violations. The outlet reported that the new patent application is part of Ford’s efforts to expand law enforcement tools through vehicle technology.

CBT News reported that the patented technology would allow future Ford vehicles to use cameras to send pictures of speeding cars, GPS location data, and other driver information to law enforcement officials.

🚨 “Ford just filed a patent that would report speeding vehicles to the police.”

“Every new Ford is gonna have a device that'll track all the vehicles that are around it. And any vehicle that is speeding, well, it will automatically get reported to the police.”

“Not only that, this same device is also going to allow them to be able to track your vehicle and report it to the police if you're caught speeding too. They've only filed for this patent so far.”

Keeping my old ones, thanks. There are times when going a little faster can save significant time by the end of the day. In 600 miles of driving, an additional 10 mph can knock an hour off the trip. That can mean everything from arriving a bit less fatigued to arriving ahead of a winter storm. Interstates range from 70 to 80 MPH across most of the country, and secondary highways here are at 65.

It makes no sense to speed in town (because of the increased accident risk and the relatively little time saved in a trip of only a few miles) but keeping it under 5 over the limit will generally avoid a ticket.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Brave New World here we come!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

It's not their place to violate your privacy and monitor you for compliance, then give the info to the govt, nor does the govt have the right to the info without a warrant.

All these corporations today think they can sell you something and then have some kind of residual possession rights for free, simply because they put some legal clause in fine print.
The Republic is lost.

We're  already under surveillance.  As I write this, some tech company, or even the Goverment, is collecting data on what I am doing right now.

As a kid, teachers would scare us by warning that this or that may go into your "permanent record".

With each passing day, that "permanent record" for every human being is becoming more real.
