Former White House adviser Kellyanne Conway joined the chorus of GOP strategists who want former President Donald Trump to change his tone on the campaign trail.

Conway told Fox Business anchor Larry Kudlow during an interview on Monday that her former boss needs to adapt his rhetoric to produce a “winning formula” against Vice President Kamala Harris.

“The winning formula for President Trump is very plain to see,” Conway proclaimed. “It’s fewer insults, more insights, and that policy contrast.”

The GOP strategist worked closely with Trump for three years before retiring from her role as counselor to the president in August 2020.

Has he spoken about local politics in Asheville?  A bunch of progressives took over and defunded the police department, leading to rampant vagrancy and other crime.  That topic is low hanging fruit, and would resonate with a lot of swing voters in western NC if only he were prepped.

Trump calls Harris ‘crazy’ and mocks her laugh during speech on economy

Former President Donald Trump mocked Vice President Kamala Harris‘s laugh during a rally in Asheville, North Carolina, a battleground state, Wednesday afternoon as GOP members continue to urge him to move away from juvenile attacks.

“What happened to her laugh? I haven’t heard that laugh in about a week,” Trump asked the crowd. “That’s why they keep her off the stage. That’s why she’s disappeared. That’s the laugh of a crazy person. They told her don’t laugh. Don’t laugh. Her laugh is career-threatening.”

Trump’s campaign billed the address as a major economic speech as Trump hopes to reset his campaign against Harris. But the former president spent considerable time slamming Harris and President Joe Biden’s tenure in office, as well as Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), whom Trump taunted for signing legislation allowing menstrual products in school bathrooms.

“He signed a bill. He wants tampons in boys’ bathrooms, I don’t think so,” Trump said, denouncing Walz.

The crowd loudly booed Walz in response.

“I mean, the clown that she picked as a vice president,” Trump added. “This guy’s a clown. He was so bad.”

Sounds like Trump gave a good speech.

But the real question is whether swing voters are even going to listen to those speeches at all.  He and his campaign have to figure out a way, through ads or whatever, to break through with whatever message they want to get across.
