.

Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 campaign is seeking to avoid overstuffing the Democratic National Convention with celebrities to avoid making it seem like a “Hollywood liberal elite” event.

The four-day event, scheduled to begin Aug. 19 in Chicago, will be selective over which celebrities it chooses to invite. The report comes after the party has had a history of doing events with major celebrities, including one in June with actors George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Jack Black while President Joe Biden was still seeking reelection.

“We are living in the most personalized media environment ever, so it’s crucial we are leveraging the unparalleled excitement around this historic ticket by doing everything we can to break through to the voters who will decide this election,” the Harris campaign’s senior spokeswoman Adrienne Elrod told TMZ.

Elrod also stated that celebrities “bring new voters into the fold” in a manner that only they could by “speaking authentically” to their fans.

The outlet has reported that musician John Legend is set to visit the DNC. However, it is not yet known if he will be delivering a speech or performing at the event.

Maybe someone has realized that the majority of Americans are sick and tired of obscenely rich socialist "celebrities" telling them how they should live, think and vote?

no Robert DeNiro? No Bette Midler? No Tom Arnold (hey, I'm still waiting for that tape)? The only celeb appearance at a convention I've ever like was when Clint Eastwood talked to that chair.

I guess Kamala is trying to appear more substantive and serious. Good luck with that.

I'll believe it when I see it.
What am I saying? I'm not planning to watch, so I won't see it either way.

One can only hope a majority of Americans have turned that corner and become tired of that. I am not so sure the 'groupie' mentality is that well purged from the population, regardless of who they are lining up to see.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
