Kamala Harris’ VP pick, Tim Walz, completes the progressives’ takeover of the Democratic Party
By Michael Goodwin
Published Aug. 6, 2024, 10:05 p.m. ET

The media’s drooling over Kamala Harris for making Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz her running mate exposes the big picture: Democrats are offering voters the most far-left ticket a major American party has ever devised.

All the DEI boxes are checked, but there is no ideological or political diversity.

They are two people who are physically different but share a single radical viewpoint.

The contrast with just four years ago is stunning.

Then, Joe Biden was depicted as a centrist who picked Harris because of her biracial status and gender and also because she checked the progressive box with her left-coast policies.

The aim reflected the traditional goal of most veep choices: Broaden the party’s reach with a ticket that appeals to different constituencies.

Yet with Biden off the stage, Dems inexplicably are lurching even harder left.

As such, the progressive ticket for 2024 completes the takeover by what was a relatively minor faction not so long ago.

Too many people are missing the point that this is not a play to middle America or independent voters

This is to solidify the left-wing base who just a few weeks ago were dispirited and down in the dumps. Donald Trump’s base of support is in the rural areas. Hers will be in the urban areas plus somewhat in the  suburbs

But she needed that urban vote to come out around that 90% range. They will now. Especially black women who are salivating at the chance of putting a minority female in the presidency. Nothing else matters to them
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Tim Walz is a Progressive in deplorable-friendly, deplorable-marketable package.
"Political correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it’s entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." - Alan Simpson, Frontline Video Interview

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
Great people who vote based on color. People who don't need oil because they ride the bus. People who couldn't tell a "fracking rig" from a scarecrow, who think natural gas in more toxic coming from a hydraulically fractured hole in the ground than one that hasn't been. People who will freeze to death or insist we do so they can feel smug about 'saving' a planet that doesn't give a care one way or another, on which 99.9% of all species that ever existed are extinct and are rushing to be next. People who insist on a universal right to kill their offspring. NIMBYidiots.

There is no way those policies will appeal to "red" America, nor a host of others, but the people who live in places like this:

Want to tell those of us who live here:

how to take care of the environment.
Yes, I have little doubt they'll vote for Commie Kamala.
..and that will be the end of the experiment.
Bugger off.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

You’re right

But this is why it’s going to be important for the Republicans to maintain the House and hopefully take the Senate and, over time,  take over more of these governorships or take over state Houses

My state of Wisconsin for example, has a Democrat governor. But the Republican Party controls both chambers. Seems to balance out OK

Yet look across the bridge in Walz’s state of Minnesota where the Democrat party controls the governor ship and the DFL controls the state legislature. Or California with the Democrat party is 100% in charge

Then look at Florida where the Republicans control everything. Compare that to California

Their needs to be a serious Republican Party in the Congress that is serious about making the case against a President Harris’s hard left policies and united in opposition.

And I am done with women fighting over things like eyelashes and “bad butch bodies”
