Rep. Cori Bush Second Squad Member to Be Unseated in Congressional Race

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was unseated in a close primary race on Tuesday night for Missouri’s 1st Congressional District.

Bush, who is a member of the Squad, received, 51,197 votes, or 45.8 percent, while her opponent Wesley Bell, a prosecuting attorney in St. Louis County, received 57,062 votes, or 51.0 percent of the vote, according to the Associated Press.

Prior to the election, a poll from June, that was conducted by the Mellman Group and published by Politico, showed that Bell overcame “a double-digit deficit in January to pull ahead” of Bush by one point.

The June poll found that Bell received 43 percent of support from voters, while Bush received 42 percent of support. Eleven percent of voters expressed that they were undecided.

Bell has served as the prosecuting attorney for St. Louis County since January 2019 and has been a “strong leader for common-sense solutions to ensure law enforcement is more effective” and “efficient,” according to his campaign website.

Bush’s loss comes after Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), another member of the Squad, lost his primary race in June to Westchester County Executive George Latimer.

After Bowman’s loss, Bush slammed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Political Action Committee, claiming that they had bought votes against Bowman.

Bush’s opponent, Bell, has been supported by AIPAC.

In February, Bush and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were the two votes vetoing a bill called, “No Immigration Benefits for Hamas Terrorists Act” which would ban Palestinians who took part in Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel from being able to enter the United States.

Enough though, to get an FBI/DHS visit to ask what exactly did she mean by this. I've watched this thing from across the river this summer, and this woman is some ways is crazier than AOC. 

Thank goodness this thing (though almost did) didn't end up in a run off.

The headaches plaguing “Squad” Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MN) aren’t going away following her stinging defeat by a progressive primary challenger on Tuesday.

Back in 2015, the Florida Times-Union answered a question from one reader who asked if Bush was entitled to a congressional pension after serving just two years in the U.S. House. Citing FactCheck.org, the outlet reported that no member of Congress is entitled to full pension benefits, whether they serve one two-year term or several. According to a June 13th, 2015 report by the Congressional Research Office: “Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on years of service and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting amount of a member’s retirement annuity may not exceed 80 percent of his or her final salary.”

The infamous “Squad” is down another member Wednesday morning after Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MN) lost her Democratic primary. In a concession speech free of contrition or self-reflection, the far-left progressive instead appeared to issue a veiled threat against voters who gave her the boot and fair-weather friends who she thinks didn’t do enough in her hour of need.

Microphone in hand, Bush stormed back and forth across a stage at an Election night rally with supporters late Tuesday night. There, she promised her critics would finally see “the other Cori,” claiming her loss has only “radicalized” her. “Let’s be clear! Let’s be clear!” the St. Louis Democrat shouted as she grabbed the hands of fans. “Let’s talk about what it really is. Because see, now I don’t have to worry about some strings that I have attached, that as much as I love my job, but all they did was radicalize me, so now they gonna be afraid!” The audience of left-wing activists erupted in cheers. “They’re going to see this other Cori, this other side,” she continued.
