How many years until we can’t stop climate change?

Rather than talking about whether climate change can be stopped it’s a bit more helpful to look at key “tipping points”.

“(These) include ice sheet collapse, permafrost thaw, ocean deoxygenation, ocean acidification, the die-back of the Amazon rainforest, and changes in ocean circulation, such as the slowdown of the Atlantic overturning circulation,” UNSW Climate Change Research Centre director Katrin Meissner told 9news.com.au.

No matter what we do, "the climate it is a changin'" (apologies to Mr. Dylan), and will keep right on doing so in spite of our efforts to "stop" it.

Precisely. It is the ultimate delusion of grandeur to think that people can stop the climate from changing.
Even the ideas tossed around about shielding the planet from that thing that heats it will only...change the climate, they won't stop change. Instead they might engineer it, and anything done by Leftists is going to be a boondoggle with a host of "unintended consequences".

Don't screw around with Mother Nature, she can be a mean mother.

I must admit, I really do not understand this fetish people have about preserving dynamic systems in stasis.

When hasn't the climate been changing?  The more I read about geology and tectonics, the more I read about the correlation with climate changes.  Many of those climate changes correlate with changes in ocean currents as old oceans close and new oceans open.

It's amazing how little "science" underpins Global Climate Change.  It's myopically centered around chemistry, specifically gases such as methane, carbon-dioxide, and sulfur-dioxide.  There other scientific disciplines which have applications towards climate sciences, such as geology (plate tectonics, volcanism), astronomy (solar cycles, earth's orbit, earth's tilt, asteroids, meteors, comets), physics (gravity), and others I may not be aware of.

IMHO ... it is the scientific myopathy of Global Climate Change theory that leads me to suspect it is more political philosophy than earth science.

Why are Al Gore and John Kerry, white males of privilege with a larger carbon footprints, promoting an agenda that wants to eliminate the fertilizers that feed billions of people?  It's an insanity that is a contagion among unelected rich, powerful people who like to think of themselves as thought leaders.

IMHO ... Global Climate Change is putrid group think.
