The US might lose a war with China, congressional commission says
Insufficient industry, readiness, innovation, and funding hamper military’s ability to prevail in conflict, key experts find.

The U.S. military “lacks both the capabilities and the capacity required to be confident it can deter and prevail in combat,” in the judgment of a congressional commission whose new report finds that collaboration between Russia, China, and other autocratic states is increasing the chance of a multi-front conflict—and that the U.S. would have trouble sustaining such a fight.

For more than a year, the former lawmakers, military leaders, and policy experts on the Commission on the National Defense Strategy have studied how well the U.S. military is executing the 2022 national defense strategy. The group released their report on Monday and will present its findings to the Senate Armed Services committee on Tuesday.

The group found big gaps between the Defense Department’s ambitions of deterring or prevailing in a major conflict and reality. One of the reasons they came to that conclusion is the current state of the U.S. defense industrial base compared to China’s.

Well, America didn't win the Korean War.

America is giving away its technological, industrial, and manufacturing competitive advantages to China in exchange for cheap Nike's and iPhones.

China unleashed Covid-19/SARS2 upon the world, contributing to American domestic economic and political instability.

China is supplying Fentanyl ingredients to narco-terrorist cartels to kill and disable America's working age and military age young adults.

China is opening "police stations" in Western Countries to terrorize and intimidate dissidents residing in those nations.

IMHO ... The Chinese Communist Party is winning a war that DC Globalists are willfully blind to.

What is not and seems to never be looked at is the psyche of the Taiwanese. I will wager that they are more in love with their chip infrastructure than their freedom. I hope I'm wrong, but I see them striking a deal before doing much fighting, especially if China gets the jump on us.

I agree with your assertion above...  I think we are approaching more of a Hong Kong scenario than Freedom Fighting.

I've been putting up posts saying that for at least a couple of years in this forum.

Faced with almost certain destruction of their island or submission, the Taiwanese will... submit.

Or they'll offer some kind of a Hong-Kong-like deal. And the CCP would almost certainly agree to this.

I'll go further than what others have stated above.
I'm thinking that there may already be ultra-secret discussions in progress right now between Taiwan and the CCP. Probably have been going on for a while.

I believe there are already a significant number of Taiwan-based businesses that have production "on the mainland".

AND... although the numbers aren't overly large... I believe there is a modest minority of Taiwanese who actually support the concept of a reconciliation.

This may be why the CCP has "held back" from "the attack", preferring instead to put out "displays of force" but no actual assault.

(of course, I could be completely wrong...)

The number of Taiwanese who remember the courage, drive, and efforts of Chiang-Kai-shek has dwindled to just a few.  Not sure their MSM has greased the skids, but if they have, the absorbtion by the Chicoms seems pretty likely.
