It is true that right now in a classified facility somewhere in the United States, the U.S. military is working on cutting-edge technology that will revolutionize air combat. Indeed, the Pentagon and the U.S. defense and aerospace sector have been doing so for decades. As a result, the U.S. military possesses the largest and most capable combat air fleet in the world.
But some projects never see the light of day.
“The United States has long led the world in fielding advanced new airpower technologies, from the first-ever military aircraft to the invention of modern stealth. But for every paradigm-shifting aircraft like the F-117 Nighthawk, B-2 Spirit, or F-22 Raptor, there’s a long list of prototypes, technology demonstrators, and design proposals that never see the light of day,” Alex Hollings, Editor-in-Chief of Sandboxx News and the host of AirPower on YouTube, said in a recent video.
To end up with an operational aircraft like the F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter jet or the B-21 Raider stealth strategic bomber, the U.S. military goes through a lot of technology and prototypes.
