Vice President Kamala Harris, now the presumptive Democratic nominee, said she is ready to debate former President Donald Trump ahead of the election.

When President Joe Biden was still in the race, he and Trump agreed to debate on ABC News on Sept. 10.

“I’m ready to debate Donald Trump,” Harris said to reporters Wednesday.

“I have agreed to the previously agreed upon Sept. 10 debate. He agreed to that previously. Now here he is backpedaling, and I’m ready,” Harris said.

“I think the voters deserve to see the split-screen that exists in this race on a debate stage, and so I’m ready. Let’s go,” Harris continued.

After Biden exited the race, Trump requested the host network be switched to Fox News, which invited Harris and Trump to a debate on Sept. 17.

The status of the vice presidential debate remains unclear. When Harris was still the vice presidential nominee, she and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), Trump’s running mate, agreed to a CBS News debate on either July 23 or Aug. 13.
