 Kamala Harris’ campaign vetting VP candidates – but one major name not on list

Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign has asked for vetting materials from a number of potential VP picks this week — with one notable exception.

Harris has requested materials from veep candidates including Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, according to Wall Street Journal reporter Ken Thomas.

But Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear — who was featured on several preliminary lists of Harris’ potential running mates — told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that he had not been asked to submit anything to the Harris camp.

Beshear said Harris personally called him just hours after President Biden announced he was stepping off the ticket — but added that he would only consider the VP job if he felt he could help the people of Kentucky in that position.

“The only reason I’d ever consider something else is if I felt that I could help my people in Kentucky more in a different role or that there was a chance to move past the partisanship, the constant fighting,” he explained.

Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) are reported as the two leading candidates to be Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate.

Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president on Monday, setting off the race for her running mate. Sources familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal that the major figures who were sent running mate vetting materials were Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Govs. Roy Cooper (D-NC), Josh Shapiro (D-PA), Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), Tim Walz (D-MN), and J.B. Pritzker (D-IL).

MSNBC obtained an almost identical list, with the exception of Pritzker. Notably, Pritzker said he had not received any vetting materials.

A senior administration official told ABC News on Tuesday that of those on the list, Shapiro and Kelly are at the top. Both are from key battleground states.

Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY) said he hasn’t received vice presidential vetting materials, even though he was floated by many as one of the top candidates for the position.

The lack of inclusion was confirmed by Beshear on Monday when he told CNN he hadn’t been asked to submit information.

The Kentucky governor was widely seen as campaigning for the running mate spot, appearing in interviews multiple times in the past week and aggressively attacking the man who would be his opponent, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH).

We already know it has to be a white male.  That is how democrats work.  All women and nonwhites are to be excluded from consideration, because they are already rep-uh-seh-ad by Kamala.

Roy Cooper and Kamala Harris get along because they are both sleazy prosecutors.  As attorney general he famously refused to defend laws enacted by the legislature, and as governor turned NC into a sanctuary state.  He may be favored by some of the power players because he would be old enough to step aside in 2032. 

His wife Kristin gained notoriety when she flipped off the anti-lockdown protestors.  Lovely pair, those two.

Well, she is following Biden's lead by selecting someone worse that she is.  Yes, every name on this list are horrendous considerations.

Sen Mark Kelly  -  who the hell ever heard of this fool?  Astronaut, big f***ing deal. 

Gov Roy Cooper  -  who?  who?  who?  I have a house I bought one year ago in NC as a 2nd home, and I NEVER heard his name mentioned once by my neighbors!

Gov Josh Shapiro  -  with antisemitism being as large as it is within the Democommie Party, she will pick a Jew as a running mate?  No way.  She herself is an anti-semite.  She refuses to meet with Netanyahu.  She has ZERO LEADERSHIP ability, and shortly, perhaps before the convention, America will realize she is not eligible and certainly not qualified for this position.  With her anxiety issues, she will turn the USA into the hermit nation, along the lines of North Korea, for she will not be able to meet with more than three people without peeing her pants.

Gov Wretched Gretchen Whitmer  -  please!!!!!

Gov JB Pritzker  -  oh please pick this fat fool.

Pritzker is too fat, and Illinois is a mess right now.  Other midwesterners are aware of this.  Illinois will vote dem no matter what.  Their republicans have moved south.   
Tim Walz - military background, unremarkable as governor.  He might help with the middle, though law and order will not be a selling point. 
Whitmer is female.  She would be a solid pick, had Biden not checked the box with a DEI successor. 
Kelly would be okay.  He may pull Arizona back into the blue column, although it will be difficult given what is happening at the border.
Shapiro can solidify the Jewish voters who are leery of Kamala.  He doesn’t win the experience contest with JD Vance however.

Josh Shapiro would probably deliver Pennsylvania to Kamala Harris and he did handily beat the MAGA  candidate in 2022

I could be wrong, as I only live in a neighboring state and not in Pa. itself, but his performance as governor has been a pleasant surprise. He seems more pragmatic than party-driven (unless his predecessor). But I just can't see a virulent Jooo-hating supporter of Islamoterrorism like Kamala - which says a lot about her marriage - picking him.
