If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

With the Vance selection as VP, permit me to be the first person to encourage Gov DeWine to appoint Vivek Ramaswamy to replace him in the Senate come January.

DeWine will pick whomever Mitch McConnell tells him to pick.

No, the fact that the Vance's are friends of Vivek's doesn't leave me with a good feeling.  Not in the least.

   I've resigned myself to believe that the next 3 days and this Convention are gonna be a TRUMP SHOW, why not he won it. Better to accept the gloating that we will witness from our resident Trumpers, particularly in this Thread or the many multitudes of them during this week, than to sulk and be bitter.
   Besides it's more conducive to the general atmosphere here.

   I hope he's up to the task.  He failed all of US last time, even before covid.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

And I’ve resigned myself to the reality that those of us who favor a more limited federal government, less government intervention in the economy, sound currency, a real, sustainable economy, and some sort of fiscal responsibility are going to be out of luck for at least the next four years

It is what it is

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

That's because JD Vance loves Democrat economic policies.

@JDVance1

Just overwhelmed with gratitude.

What an honor it is to run alongside President Donald J. Trump. He delivered peace and prosperity once, and with your help, he'll do it again.

Onward to victory!

@Hoodat

Benjamin Harrison was the last bearded President, and I think that Teddy Roosevelt was the last with a mustache.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/about-the-white-house/presidents/benjamin-harrison/

Quote
Nominated for President on the eighth ballot at the 1888 Republican Convention, Benjamin Harrison conducted one of the first “front-porch” campaigns, delivering short speeches to delegations that visited him in Indianapolis. As he was only 5 feet, 6 inches tall, Democrats called him “Little Ben”; Republicans replied that he was big enough to wear the hat of his grandfather, “Old Tippecanoe.”

Born in 1833 on a farm by the Ohio River below Cincinnati, Harrison attended Miami University in Ohio and read law in Cincinnati. He moved to Indianapolis, where he practiced law and campaigned for the Republican Party. He married Caroline Lavinia Scott in 1853. After the Civil War–he was Colonel of the 70th Volunteer Infantry–Harrison became a pillar of Indianapolis, enhancing his reputation as a brilliant lawyer.

The Democrats defeated him for Governor of Indiana in 1876 by unfairly stigmatizing him as “Kid Gloves” Harrison. In the 1880’s he served in the United States Senate, where he championed Indians. homesteaders, and Civil War veterans.
