President Biden on Friday tried to reassure voters in the battleground state of Michigan that he’s up for another four years in office amid questions over his age and stamina.

“We gotta finish the job. I promise you I am OK,” Biden told supporters.

He and Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.) spoke to a crowd at a restaurant in Northville, Mich., ahead of a campaign rally in the area.

He echoed remarks from his high-stakes press conference the night before, during which he said he’s not running again for his legacy but instead to finish the job he started four years ago.

“That’s why I’m running to finish this job. There’s more to do. I know I’m only 41. … I promise you I’m OK,” he said, cracking a joke about his age.

The president, 81, added, “With age comes a little wisdom … the alternative is not much of an alternative.”

Biden is expected to bash former President Trump later Friday over the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, calling it the “biggest attack” on the U.S. system of government.

Trump has sough to distance himself from the conservative vision for his next administration, though many of his former staff and advisers are involved in the effort.

Biden’s visit to the pivotal swing state of Michigan, which he won in 2020, comes as he is defending his decision stay in the 2024 race amid growing calls from Democratic lawmakers to drop out.

If President Joe Biden was searching for evidence he should drop out, he did not find it during a Trump-style raucus rally in Michigan on Friday night.

At Detroit’s Renaissance High School, the same host of the 2020 Democratic primary rally during which he promised to be a “bridge” to the party’s next generation of leaders, Biden did not stop repeated chants of “Lock him up!” regarding Trump and criticized the press, eliciting “boos” from the raucous crowd.

“I’m just saying, you may have noticed that since the debate, the press and they’re good guys and women up there, they have been hammering me,” he told the event. “Trump has gotten a free pass.”

Joe Biden went to Michigan on Friday to try to inject some life to his moribund campaign.

It already started out badly, with the news about who would be giving him the cold shoulder and not showing up:

    Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will not attend Biden's Michigan appearance on Friday. Sen. Gary Peters, a steadfast Biden supporter, and Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who is vying for Michigan’s open Senate seat, will also be absent. United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain is traveling for a conference and won't attend either.

That's a bad look for Biden right there; when they don't even bother to show up to stand next to you, that's pretty radioactive.

But he didn't help himself when he stopped at a restaurant and immediately went in for a sniff with some little kids:

It isn't just the incoherence that's the problem; he has so many other issues and reasons why he should not be elected in 2024. This is one of them.
