This one is NOT Nate Silver's

Polls are polls, but I do find it troubling the Joe is polling so well.  Seriously?  After all his gaffes, stammering, stuttering, and deer in the headlights staring, so many people would still vote for him.

They hate Trump.

Virtually any other Republican candidate would win in a landslide.

Yup.  It's been the issue all along, and why the "I can't believe 80 million people voted for Joe Biden" crowd misses the point.  It's not that people were eager to vote for Biden.  They just wanted to vote against Trump.

And tens of millions still do.

Trump needs only three states - Georgia, Virginia, and Nevada.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Then why didn't virtually any other Republican candidate even come close to winning the primaries?

YOU hate Trump.

Because Trump was the only Democrat in the race.

According to Gallup, 51% of voters identify as independent, 25% as republican, and 23% as democrat. The people who chose Trump and Biden are by no means representative of the broader electorate.

What does this have to do with the question I asked:   Why didn't virtually any other Republican candidate even come close to winning the Republican primaries?

Your question was answered.

There’s not the cult of personality in the primary that surrounds the other candidates like Trump

And you still don’t understand the difference between primary voters/elections and the general election and the public at large.

Both of the above have been explained to you several times but you choose to remain blind, deaf, and dumb

In the MAGA bubble, Trump is a deity. Outside that bubble is a much different story

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Trump has the good fortune of running against a dementia patient. Any other Democrat and it would be over for him

He could still lose. But his chances have improved as a result

His lucky win in 2016 came as a result of Hillary’s refusal to campaign in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and my home state of Wi. Her assumption that those states would go for her cost her. She thought the Clinton name would be enough

The American people voted against Trump in 2016. The EC saved him. The same Electoral College he wanted to abolish a mere 4 years prior

Because you guys drove everyone else out of the party leaving a huge chunk of politically homeless conservatives who have no one to vote for.

What does this have to do with the question I asked:

It has the same thing with it as did your question to the comment you addressed - not a damn thing.

The answer to that is related to the question "Where else are they gonna go?"

The answer: Not with you.

Some didn't even bother to run because they knew how brazen he truly is. Trump smeared and lied about other conservatives in order to win -- that's evilness and one reason why I'm not voting for him.  If he has no allegiance to conservatives in the party or conservatism in general, then he IS part of the problem.
