ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos admitted Tuesday that he does not believe President Biden can serve out a second term — days after conducting a closely watched interview with the commander-in-chief following his disastrous debate performance against Donald Trump last month.

Stephanopoulos, 63, was recorded by TMZ answering a question from a passer-by about Biden’s political future in midtown Manhattan.

“Do you think Biden should step down?” the anonymous interrogator asked the “Good Morning America” co-host and “This Week” moderator. “You’ve talked to him more than anybody else has lately.”

“I don’t think he can serve four more years,” the soft-spoken Stephanopoulos responded after a pause.

“You don’t think he can serve four more years?” the questioner repeated before adding: “All right, that’s an answer.”

An estimated 8.5 million Americans watched Stephanopoulos’ 22-minute post-debate interview with Biden, which aired in full July 5 and was rebroadcast on “This Week” the following Sunday.

Biden also claimed that his frequent errors were a “bad episode” rather than a sign of permanent deterioration, but declined to submit to a cognitive exam to prove that statement.

That's a given ... the election is about "can America survive the next 4 years?".

America is one election cycle from having a stewed prune for President.

The US Senate is full of members who are long past their "Best If Used By" dates.

The US House is full of high school drama queens.

My hope is that the squirrels outside my window will help show America the way back to sanity.  I stay in their good favor by giving them 3lb bags of unsalted roasted peanuts.  Their lives are too stressful for salted peanuts.

George Stephanopoulos Says He ‘Shouldn’t Have’ Commented on President Joe Biden’s Ability to Serve Second Term

 George Stephanopoulos backed away Tuesday evening from an errant quip he made to a passerby in New York City in which he said that he didn’t think President Joe Biden would be able to serve another term in office.

“I don’t think he can serve four more years,” Stephanopoulos said in the leaked video.

The exchange was captured by TMZ, and the person lobbing a query about Biden’s fortitude appeared to be working for the outlet. The person approached Stephanopoulos as he was walking, in workout clothes, on the streets of New York City.

“Earlier today I responded to a question from a passerby. I shouldn’t have,” Stephanopoulos said in a statement that was shared previously with both Puck News and TMZ. “George expressed his own point of view and not the position of ABC News,” the Disney news unit said in a separate statement.

OConnell rallied her top behind-the-scenes advisors, including the network’s public relations consultants, for an “all-hands-on-deck” meeting before privately dressing down Stephanopoulos.
